i didnt have any AEONCR Credit Card

A---. A Malay girl called me this morning to verify my name, said from AEONCR. I thou is abt annual meeting for AEONCR counter i bought
1. I did said it to verify my name, as they claim is from AEONCR, i do suspect is possible fraud if something fishy
2. Then the malay girl continue to ask for my IC no. I neglect to provide to her.
3. She replied with my IC to confirm, it seems like they know my IC, i replied yes, thats my IC
4. She transfer my call to another guy to proceed further

B---. Someon1 called Leong
1. Start talking abt my unpaid transaction on AEONCR Credit Card in Kuantan Poh Kong, RM7000+, Said i didnt make payment for it
2. I explain that I never own the CC, is not me, go proceed to make the report as fraud
3. He asks me to go Kuantan Police Station to make report.
4. I told him it weird for me to do the Fraud report. Since I dont bother random call from bank and say i hav CC with them. The act is so random.
5. I said call me back, i am busy. he offer to let me know the detail, i need prepare paper to write down the detail.

B---. Leong called back 10 mins later
1. He told me abt the Address in my IC, the stmt sent to my IC address. So they know my IC
2. He gave me CC no, an address of the transaction made
3. Call cut off

---conclusion---
- Is new kind of scammer call to me, they seems to try to get more data from me. If is not the call cutoff, i will dig out more info
- I did CCRIS search on BNM, I dont see i own any CC from AEON. https://eccris.bnm.gov.my/eccris/pages/sec/login.xhtml#!
- I did cimbclick Duitnow transfer on the CC with "Aeon Bank", the CC number on Aeon Bank seems invalid. there is no Payee to "Aeon Credit", i dont see it.
- called aencr on the support call numbrr. credit card department is not reachable. Pending them to call me back

TLTR version
Some1 call abt my aeonCr CC transaction, RM7k+ unpaid transaction, ask me why. I told them i dont have the card. They have my Name, IC no, and Address on IC. I think they got my IC image.

to be continue if any further info gather. Do comment if you received such call b4. do share more on this

[1:30pm]
-Official Aeoncr call me back. with the IC i provided earlier. they promise to call me back
- Aeoncr confirm i hav no Credit Card nor loan with them

Gamxia all for the feedback and reply

Sounds like another calling centre scam to me, they just want to exploit you with the info they got, which is IC and address, and to "force" you to make a payment.

there was a massive leak of data, your name, ic and phone number registered to that IC .... news like 10 years ago ? if your phone is registered before that leak, high chances it is part of the leak (like my mobile phone now registered 20 years ago - cant cancel / change because already use so long, very inconvenient) - there was a link posted in lowyat also - where you key in your phone number - and if you see your IC there, then you know its leaked

There is no need of data leak. Name, IC number, phone number, address etc is what you filled in if you enter contest last time (now more online). So, these info is lying everywhere and one can just sell them. These info are not very secretive anymore.

Anything call me and said I did something wrong, owe money, I will hang up phone.
If you really did something, usually wont call one. They will send letter.

Except if accident and report police. Sargent will call you directly.

Banks don't call from mobile numbers la.

Plus, they don't call about fraud cases. It is always the customer who need to contact them. If you're a premier customer then only they might call.

Anyhow, already 5 years never received such stupid calls from scammers after paying for Truecaller.

Yes. Had similar call many years back.

Someone pretend as bank officer (a bank in Ipoh) and even telling me his name (Malay name), but I could hear certain part he slipped a hint of Chinese accent. He asked my name and also verified my IC number. Correct. I think it was to verify the charge made or new application, I could not recall.

I said I did not have account in Ipoh and no CC from that bank. I told him that since it was someone else using my IS then just do not approved it. Then he told me to make police report. I asked him why I need to make police report since it was my problem (for me it was bank problem laugh.gif ). To end conversation I just told him that I'm busy shopping now and asked him to call me back after 2 hours.

Surprisingly when I was home 2 ours later, I get the call again. I just let it ringed when I saw the number laugh.gif

I think using Truecaller or whatever, it just blocked all the number being labeled as scammer. However, those scammer are using devices that send fake number. The number can be valid number belong to someone else.

got a similar call like 8–10 years ago. they always say fraud happened at a random isolated place and give you a short deadline so you can’t go make a report in person. then they pass you to a malay guy who's supposed to be an "inspector xxx" from that area. he’ll say your bank account is also compromised, and you need to transfer all your balance to a designated account so they can "safeguard" your money. you already know where this is going.
