How old is she?

You can show her a FGS (Fo Guang Shan) video and bring her to visit during the Mid-Autumn Festival too.

She might become interested in FGS after that.

This truly seems like fate…

May I kindly suggest encouraging her to join the FGS youth group? It would provide positive guidance and wholesome activities.

Otherwise, by the time she reaches around 13 or 14 years old, there is a real risk that many children or teenagers become heavily influenced or even addicted to platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Bilibili, Instagram, Telegram, and online games.

I have seen many kids or teenagers who have unfortunately become addicted to these online social apps and games, which is really unfortunate — it’s such a waste of time on these kinds of activities.

I hope this can help protect her from those distractions and keep her on a good path.

You can bring her to help cook Laba porridge.

She can just help with simple things — like distributing it into paper bowls and covering them, or just helping with the counting.

Or she can just help by handing out vegetables or fried dough sticks (already cut into small pieces).

In 2027, it will be on January 26 (Monday).

農曆臘月(12月)初8

Most FGS branches will cook this porridge on weekends before the day and on the day also and deliver it to places like newspapers office, associations, schools, and old folks’ homes.

I have been volunteering to make Laba porridge at FGS for 3 years already. It’s best to go at 5 or 6 a.m.

All Fo Guang Shan temples, both in Taiwan and overseas, follow the guidance of Master Hsing Yun to prepare Laba porridge. To meet different needs, they offer creative approaches such as DIY cooking kits and demonstration cooking sessions.

They also combine this effort with winter warming activities and express gratitude to frontline pandemic workers.

The porridge is delivered to schools, government agencies, organizations, and various industries, sharing bowls of Laba porridge filled with Buddhist teachings to connect with people from all directions.

2027 Jan 26 (Monday)

You can go to any FGS branches(mostly have) to collect porridge also

Great!
You can show her the Facebook post and tell her it’s like a co-curricular activity.
She can make many friends through it—
It’s like being part of an association,
So she’ll be more likely to join.
