I'm a little conflicted over the tone. It has drastic tonal shift twice which needs a little adjustment. Then again 28 days later also did that. Then you have jack in the box cliffhanger that almost came out of nowhere. It's a little weird at times and the zombies killing pretty kinetic.
You can't go wrong with the casting especially the child actor who is actually the main character. He is an awesome character. Glad this came out more like God of War instead of The Last of Us in terms of father and son relationship. Overall still looking forward to the sequel and I believe Jack O'Connell will be the big adversary to little Spike.

QUOTE(blek @ Jun 21 2025, 03:26 PM) So ok to watch or not? Thinking to watch F1 tonight but not screening yet. Don't expect it as your usual zombie movie. Granted you have thrilling zombie killing but it's actually coming of age of Spike in a zombie apocalypse. It's figuring your own identity amidst brutal trauma not just from zombies but humanity.

Watch it again. The second time makes me like the movie a lot more. Knowing what it is actually, Spike's moment in the bone temple hits really hard and even beautiful in terms how Jodie Comer impart her final lesson to Spike.
Cillian Murphy appearance confirmed for the sequel and should they able to make the 3rd movie, it will focus on him.
