hm... considering I have RM7000 in my disposal now... what sort of gaming machine (laptops) can I get???

My PC spec now is as in my signature.. but it is really damn hard to take it to my college and vice versa... really annoying lerr... so big. Thinking of selling my PC and buy a laptop instead... but I wanna make sure that I can still play my games exactly as how I'm enjoying it in my current rig now... smile.gif

Your gaming specific question is very welcomed in this topic. icon_rolleyes.gif

Locally, Dell XPS M1730 suits you best.

Or if you want Alienware, ask fellow forumer derred on how to get one. Only consider NVIDIA GeForce 8700M and above for your hardcore gaming needs.

First of all pardon me as I really have little knowledge of the pricing of gaming laptops. Very used to the desktop segment so usually I will think that RM4000 to RM5000 will already be enough to build a really good gaming machine. So I might be a little misled about information regarding gaming laptops... will help you guys help in clarifying stuff for me notworthy.gif .

The DELL XPS M1730... sports a 8700M GT graphics along with 2GB DDR2 RAM. But with a monitor with resolution of 1920x1200 (that's huge man). My current monitor sports a 1680x1050 resolution with a 8800GTS 320MB.

Considering 8800GTS is more powerful than 8700M GT.. wouldn't playing in a resolution such as 1920x1200 be quite laggy??

The price range is quite OK.. RM 7,799.. though due to my unfamiliarness of the price range of gaming laptop.. I'm quite shock to see the price blush.gif . But I guess I can top-up a little.

Only that... is 8700M GT is good enough for my gaming needs tongue.gif

And this Alienware machine... how can I get it and what about warranty purpose??

You're right about that.  nod.gif But I assume he's a hardcore gamer due to his desktop specs so I won't suggest mainstream or performance level graphics to him as outline by this post:

Quick Guide: NVIDIA GeForce Laptop Graphics
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=14210842

He should opt for a GeForce 8700M or above. I could suggest an Asus G1S (prices at RM 6,988 or less depend on stores), but then it only sports GeForce 8600M GT which is not *meeting* the requirement of such a hardcore gamer type. But for most of mainstream / moderate gamer type on a budget (including me), even GeForce 8400M is enough for playing games at this level. cool2.gif

Yerp... can consider I'm in the enshusiast segment of gaming. smile.gif

Usually a laptop with at least 8800GTS or 8800GTX.. how much is the price??? Can I get it in Malaysia??

actually I'm looking to get rid of my current rig (as in my siggy) and get a laptop instead. I'm always travel between my home and college in Penang and it is dmn annoying to take the whole rig (speaker.. casing.. keyboard.. LCD etc..etc..) but at the same time I dun wan to miss the performance I'm enjoying with my rig right now sweat.gif

I know its impossible to have such laptops at such a low price but at least I would like to know how much it will cost... smile.gif

Hm... I wonder. Have been searching the net for benchmarking of Crysis using DELL XPS M1730 but couldn't find any (except the demo version which is not optimized for Dual-Core yet).

Any of you guys here stumble across any sort of review and benchmarking consisting Crysis and Call of Duty 4 with DELL XPS M1730??
