I also smell a huge AMLA case here. 1. Why do they use your friend's account and not a formal company account? Just because it's online marketplace give them no right to use personal account. 2. What is your friends role in this whole business? Does your friend even know who the other person is? Receiving 10% based on sales as employee? What a nice life. Business partner? Then time to show all documents. 3. Sabah. A foreigner needs to find someone from Sabah to do accounting using personal account. I'd be more worried about AMLA than paying tax at this point. Your friend should be VERY WORRIED about this. Good luck. fluotone, SmilingSword, and 1 other liked this post

QUOTE(gashout @ Jun 21 2025, 03:58 AM) I also smell a huge AMLA case here. Apologies for the delayed response. She has already contacted a tax consultant. To summarize, all income generated through her Stripe and bank accounts is subject to Malaysia's tax regulations.1. Why do they use your friend's account and not a formal company account? Good luck. She is required to provide all proof of delivery, documents, e-invoices from Stripe, and any other related documentation, ensuring that everything is backed up in case of any inquiries. In short, all income is taxable by LHDN (Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia). Regarding your question, she mentioned that she is already familiar with the software/services, as she uses them herself. Her role, on the other hand, is to manage the website, including providing live support (24/7 or as available), as well as tracking all income, refunds, and any disputes, if they arise. Well I'm not fully sure how tax work in Malaysia so wish her luck tho, I also told her maybe should stop doing it since it's hard to deal with foreign country, what more it's in US. gashout liked this post
