PETALING JAYA: A senator has argued that a purely merit-based system may be impractical in Malaysia, suggesting that a proportional approach would better reflect the country’s multiracial make-up. Fuziah Salleh, the deputy domestic trade and cost of living minister, said merit should be applied with consideration for ethnic representation, adding that opportunities and benefits should be distributed in proportion to the population.“For example, if 60% of the population belongs to a certain ethnic group, then merit should be applied within that proportion,” she said during yesterday’s recording of BBC World Questions at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre. https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...sia-says-fuziahSYUKURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR PKR sokong quota..not merit

Wait..... she said meritcracy not possible, but giving example of meritocracy??
60% population is bumi.. means bumi deserve 60% of everything. 40% are nons also deserve 40% of everything.
but we all know so far... team bumis are being given much more than 60% when it coms to gomen allocations.
If gomen have $100 million for race specific empowerment..... 90% goes to bumi despite forming 60% of population.
then there 10% are breadcrumbs for the rest of us 40% of population.

TS bodo. Race based affirmative actions have always been a hallmark of subsequent governments for 60+ years. It IS the Malaysian status quo.
Can TS bring forward any party or coalition that will dare change that systemically entrenched status quo? PAS? PN? 🤣

not 60% A race-based quota is applied on the admission process, with 90% of the places being reserved for the Bumiputeras, and the other 10% for the non-Bumiputeras. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Malaysia
