Singapore car expensive, cars very few and pertrol expensive. Only rich people can afford cars in Singapore.
Malaysia is different story. EV is still expensive, infra not enough and petrol still cheaper even without subsidy. And people depends on budget cars to move around. Pratical for SG, not for MY. This post has been edited by CommodoreAmiga: Jun 18 2025, 10:11 AM |

Now EV hype but looking at China, there is an over-production, price war, dealership closure and even EV producers going out of business. There is also talks of shifting from EV to Hybrid. Give it a few more good years, until things stabilize than everyone will see whether EV is just hype or for real. It will be quite amusing when owners of EV cars get the bill for the replacement of their battery packs or their EV producer has gone out of business.

In Singapore the problem with EV is the roadtax is freaking high in order to compensate the gov cannot collect fuel tax
Atto 3 roadtax there sgd 1.5k every year. Similar pice petrol car is less than $800 |

QUOTE(max_cavalera @ Jun 18 2025, 11:51 AM) How much petrol cost there? Machem not cheap. Can see the sales growth of EV quite rapid there year on year If drive model Y RWD, maybe 1 month only need to charge once for a family car. The mainland of Singapore measures 50 kilometres (31 mi) from east to west and 27 kilometres (17 mi) from north to south max_cavalera liked this post

Photoshop died due to digital camera and smartphone. So car workshop will die too. It is the price of progress. If don't want progress now we should be all riding horses so stables can have business.😆

QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Jun 18 2025, 11:43 AM) Me more scare those Chinese manufacturers change their tech and models faster than the warranty period can cover. Now already start using newer and cheaper EV batteries, those old batteries technology will going obsolete faster than the warranty. Not sure they are compatible or will do the spare part for older models If not, dunno where they going to find replacements for warranty or after warranty period |

When robotaxis become common, there is no reason for MOST to own cars. But when the needs arise they can always make a call to lease one. SG would be the 1st in ASEAN to have these cos of ease of implementation with their systematic infrastructure. max_cavalera liked this post
