MIRI: A young doctor serving at Bintulu Hospital has died following a single-vehicle crash along the Pan Borneo Highway near Suai on Thursday afternoon (June 13).

Dr Ahmad Rafizee Mohd Saian, 32, was driving alone from Miri to Bintulu when his car reportedly lost control and veered off the road at KM823.2 of the highway.

The vehicle, a Perodua Myvi, is believed to have skidded into the left shoulder before plunging into nearby undergrowth.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Confirming the incident, Miri District Police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or have relevant information to come forward.
