Malaysia will attend UN conference despite pressure from US, says Anwar
The prime minister says every country has the right to express its views, especially on justice for the Palestinian people.


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will take part in the United Nations conference next week, despite reported efforts by the US to dissuade countries from attending.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will send a representative to the conference, as every country has the right to voice its stance, particularly on the issue of justice for the Palestinian people.

“Every country has the right to attend and express its views, especially when it concerns justice for the people of Palestine and Gaza. That is our position.

“So I support the initiative by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and French president Emmanuel Macron,” he told reporters after performing Friday prayers at the Azzubair Ibn Awwam Mosque in Cheras.

The conference, co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, will be held in New York from June 17 to 20. It aims to chart a roadmap towards the creation of a Palestinian state while ensuring Israel’s security.

Marcon had suggested France could recognise a Palestinian state in Israeli-occupied territories at the conference.

Reuters reported that the US had issued a diplomatic cable on June 10 warning countries that any “anti-Israel actions” taken during the conference could be seen as acting in opposition to US foreign policy interests and could result in diplomatic consequences from Washington.

It also goes to social support for muslims led ministry and centres program like poor community assistance, health care and hospitals, nurses and doctors that also open to non muslims to visit.
Money that it not spent under Jakim name, will need to be eventually paid by the gov anyway.
