Think about it
The chances of getting a bus with failed brakes and driver speeding and on drugs is very high but if compared to Boeing which is safer
People always scared about Boeing but let kids sit on bus
if its a Bus I aint boarding

QUOTE(Imp Bron @ Jun 12 2025, 07:59 PM) People like TS don't understand statistics but fall for bias | Bias | Explanation | Airplane Example | | | Availability Heuristic | People judge likelihood based on how easily examples come to mind | A recent plane crash seen on the news makes flying feel dangerous | | | Negativity Bias | Negative events have more psychological impact than neutral/positive ones | A single crash story feels more significant than hearing about millions of safe flights | | | Probability Neglect | People focus on emotional impact, not actual statistical likelihood | Fear of a crash overrides the fact that the odds are 1 in millions | | | Confirmation Bias | People seek or remember info that supports what they already believe | A fearful flyer recalls all news about crashes but ignores statistics showing safety | | | Salience Bias | Vivid or emotionally striking events receive more attention | Dramatic footage and headlines of a crash stay in mind more than uneventful flights | | | Base Rate Neglect | People ignore general statistics in favor of specific, dramatic cases | People forget that flying is far safer than driving because crashes are rare but shocking | |
