The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has received various recommendations from relevant parties on measures to prevent tragedies like the crash which claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students, early Monday morning.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said that among the suggestions received was a proposal for university students to travel during the day, instead of at night, to enhance safety.

“Some have suggested that university students and undergraduates should travel during the day rather than at night, to enhance safety,” he told the media after the ‘Luncheon Talk with Editors’ session, in conjunction with the Asean-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025, at his ministry, here, yesterday.

Zambry also said that he had been informed of a separate accident involving an express bus, early yesterday morning, which reportedly had students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) among its passengers.

“I only received information about the accident this morning. Fortunately, there were no injuries,” he said.

In the tragic incident early Monday morning, 15 UPSI students lost their lives when the bus they were traveling in overturned at KM53 of the East-West Highway (JRTB), near Tasik Banding, Gerik.

Meanwhile, media reported that 28 passengers, including 13 UMPSA students, survived after their express bus crashed into the rear of a trailer at KM161.5 of the East Coast Highway (LPT), eastbound, shortly after midnight Monday night.

Work on the bus operators and bus drivers credential's la how permits are issued to only the well worked and proven deserving only, non selective procurement and enforcement, improve efficiency etc etc NOT ban nor restrict this that.

Not logic la restrict students travel to day travel only. Students cannot die other commuters can die can travel at night. A bright day will naturally prevent dumb drivers from speeding and road menace? Zombies ka!!

Mandate OTS intoxication test on drivers before and after each long distance road trip at bus terminals nationwide for a start. You will be surprised

Typical bush fire fighting and knee jerking

Truth is, *most* deadly accidents afaik happen at night. It's understandable why this is so.

I avoid driving between 2-6 am. This is where, imo, human alertness is at its lowest.

However, to suggest students avoid travelling at night by buses without offering alternative modes of transport is not going to help.

Should ban all heavy vehicles to using highways from 7pm to 7am.

Everyone knows they will travel at night or early morning to avoid road block especially the repeat offenders.

How they even allow repeat offenders to drive a bus is another issue. This one is the responsibility of the bus company. Never vet properly.

bro, agree with you, but how?

Most of them will take time to implement. The easiest way would be to ban something first. During that period, the mitigation control would minimize the risk of occurrence and give them more time to focus on the long-term solution.

Bodoh. Instead of banning travel times, maybe do your fucking jobs to vet the busses and lorries are road worthy and the drivers aren't repeat road offence offenders. Hello even fru guys died during day time. What weed you on bro

Typical malaysia goverment so sick and tired of them

No hope for the country anymore!

May I suggest
1) ban car/motor/motorcycle for uni students
2) enroll only can't exit campus until graduate

Sure selamat!

What about the rest of the country who is not in uni?
Yes! Ban all traffics from 7pm to 7am nationwide!

Now whole country selamat!
