Hi Sifus,

My car (Honda City '09) has been experiencing some weird sounds coming from the front side, believe from tire area.

It sounds like some washer loosen and hitting into something, but not sure what it is.

It is more prone to happen when the road is a bumpy or uneven and it's louder when I wind down the window. So I believe it should be somewhere close to the tire.

Went to the workshop, the mechanic took a drive but he said couldn't really hear it.

Instead he felt my suspensions is not really in good shape as he went over humps and suggested to change.

Personally I wish to resolve the sound issue 1st, instead of changing the suspension and in the end still unable to resolve my initial problem.

I have managed to record the sound and attach here.. pls try to ignore the wind sounds as I tried to record it with the window winded down.

Hope sifus here can provide some recommendation or insight..

Thanks a bunch guys..

Yeah bro... it's like 2 pieces of washer hitting on each other or washer lose kinda noise.. but do not know what it is..

the sound comes and goes.. but it's appears more often during bumpier roads..

I had experienced something like this before. Take out the tyre from the rim and check if there is something left inside the tyre which is running freely inside. In my case they left some washers inside the tyre when they patched it for a puncture. Should be cheap to check even if ends up not the same case for you.

nope.. and that's the problem.. this mechanic just said he couldn't identify that sound but mention suspension was bad..

so my thought process was if he is ever going to lift my car up.. he probably would want to at least charge me something..

hence recommended the suspension.. doh.gif

yeah.. would have to look for other workshop that would at least help lift it up and check..

any recommendation of good workshop around puchong would be greatly appreciated too... smile.gif

Mostly something is loose within the suspension system.

If it's so, most probably is torn or broken rubber in a 15 yo and less likely a loosened bolt/nut.

Check over shock absorber link > lower control arm bushings > sway bar bushings > shock absorbers and it's upper rubber mount.

Honda? check your suspension & lower arm bush, good luck with it as most Honda model is famous for suspension noise after warranty ends.

it didn't give me refined audio. only the analysis and the wave graph as shown.
and it says i used up all the free analysis today. biggrin.gif.

edit: i asked it back, actually it did provide me now lol. cant hear much refinement but definitely the sound louder than your file.
i can't differentiate the noise and the sound you want troubleshoot but from what you said, it seems like the sound where it sounds like washer is in your tyre? maybe tell the mechanic to focus on that.

here you go.

Off topic.

Could your symptom be uneven and irregular tyre wear pattern or spots, with or without emergence of irritating tire noise caused by undesirable wheel alignment numbers, if available?
