|
Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia’s top singles shuttler, is set to make his comeback at the Japan Open (July 15–20) after recovering from a right ankle ligament injury sustained at the World Tour Finals last December. His absence has been deeply felt, as current No. 2 Leong Jun Hao and No. 3 Justin Hoh have struggled to deliver standout results. Jun Hao’s best was reaching the Singapore Open Super 750 quarter-finals (May 27–June 1), while Justin’s top showing was the Taiwan Open quarters in May. Zii Jia hasn’t officially registered for the China Open (July 22–27) yet, though it’s likely he’ll join if fully fit after Japan. He had initially planned to return at the US Open but decided to delay it to avoid any risk of re-injury ahead of the World Championships in Paris (Aug 25–31). At the Japan Open, Zii Jia will be joined by Leong Jun Hao. The official draw will be released on July 8.

QUOTE(pobox @ Jun 11 2025, 06:01 PM) 27 This period should be his peak period because once reach 30, most players start to go downhill Got 3 more years to proof whether he is good enough of he's just another Wong Tat Meng

QUOTE(30624770 @ Jun 11 2025, 04:52 PM) Unfortunately yes even after his ranking dropped to 22 Second highest is Leong Jun Hao at 27 indeed... even with all these injuries, he still the top male badminton player in Malaysia. Our current state for male single is pathetic.
