Look at the iPhone designs. Stuck since iPhone 6 with slight curves or mash of iPhone 4 and 5.

To be honest, I think people would love to have both platforms to embrace similar gestures and UI so that its easier to interchange seamlessly. Just like universal charging ports and 3rd party accessories, users expect to have easier experiences.
