QUOTE(hcmalaya @ Jun 10 2025, 04:19 PM) Apa nak heran Its the fact we found Argentinians with Malaysian heritage.First wave of heritage tend to focus on parents from Malaysia Matt Davies, Brendan Gan, Darren Lok etc 50% bloodline Current wave of heritage focus on grandparents from Malaysia So u get some very foreign names and feature with 25% bloodline Indonesia heritage x bising Malaysia heritage dengki pula Kekwa People suspect are they even 25%. Since when we have alot of Malaysian there? Indonesia were once Dutch colony. So no surprise they have alot of people with Indonesia heritage. I think if we pick 5 English blokes, most people probably won't bat an eye. But Argentinian? |

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Jun 11 2025, 10:26 AM) Size is just poor excuse. Messi is just 5'7, so we should think he can't make it in professional football? Those South Americans are just have some kinda weird exceptional talent. They can be average in height, "trained" only on the streets, yets can produce talents that can beat European/Asian football academy players.I think football as a culture is just not ingrained in us. Yes, we like to watch it, but how many people actually is willing to play it day in day out, or send their kids to coaching academy, let them go padang and play, etc etc. We also have other sports and entertainment that pulls away talents from football. Its clear that they can do it without physical strength or years of football academy training, but the rest of can't. Especially when it comes to Asian, we're quite frankly, below average in terms of football. |

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Jun 11 2025, 11:10 AM) Similar to Brazil, football is weaved in to part of their lives and it's also a real chance at a better life. So the pool of players is bigger, the skills to shine is stronger and the top few are way better. Maybe.I think people don't realise the gap between a great player in local league to actually being professional. The best player I've played with and represented state level told me he can't even hack it professionally. And that dude is like 1000x better than the rest of us. My point is, don't look at Messi. Messi is a once a generation kinda talent. He is a freak of nature. And even regular Latin Americans footballers just have the genes for football. They can do it without size or height. The rest of us (European, African, Asian) need physical size and height to compete. And needless to say, us Asian are smaller and shorter. |

QUOTE(hcmalaya @ Jun 12 2025, 05:17 PM) If ayam recall correctly The current batch is strong, but... really suspicious...In Asia, Japan is the first to use a naturalized player in 90s Brazil Wagner Lopes but Japan work out extra mile on league and academy system to grow together. Some Pak Arab occasionally recruit Africans but use Arab names hence went undetected unlike Qatar which gone full blown In ASEAN scene, Singapore used the naturalisation card in 2000s to bring them multiple Tiger Cups.. Bennett, Duric, Qiu Li, Agu etc But they failed to sustain it without proper youth academy Indonesia and Philippines recruited few too but gave up half way before the recent Holland2.0 move Malaysia had tried both cards but the players are still not good enough for Asia stage, so the recent heritage 2.0 has brought stronger A cards Kekwa I pray these are really heritage players with proper documentation, if not we are gonna get into trouble, Vietnamese and Indonesian fans confirm will be trying to report us to FIFA |

QUOTE(Meis @ Jun 12 2025, 07:46 PM) Slight different though. HK is "international city-state" (new modern nationhood concept) macam Singapore. The mindset on accepting "heritage" and "naturalized" is easier. Human movement is higher. Interesting theory but I don't think it works.I remember few years ago when Cambodia hosted the SEA Games 2023, the basketball team was basically all black players (naturalized; starting team). And it gets backlash from the public. In the Winter Olympic Games 2022, PRC's ice hockey team was basically Canadian Team B. LEL. It was an "experimental work". Testing the public reaction. Mindset matters. The old traditional statehood or new modern nationhood concept. Look at the pictures. I doubt anyone would call Sri Lanka, Cambodia an "international city state".
