But stil... iphone 16pm signal is really bad , i forgot to mention besides Alipay & DiDi on the last china trip , most of the restaurant in china request to scan QR for the food order , iphone 16pm fail few time to load or taken longer time to load

, then on last few day we went to Jiu Zai Gou , my wife want to order luckin coffe and her iphone also fail to load , keep endless pusing , end up guna android phone only able to load. Then wechat sometime will miss notification , need to click in Wechat only receive notification , that quite painful.

Been using iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 in China few times and no issue (Beside i forgot to off iCloud backup and eat up my quota - meaning data signal running good)
Mind share which roaming pack you using - physical sim or eSim ?

Last year I was using 16PM in China, no such issue. In fact, I was the one paying for everything and checking maps etc.
I may go again in June, this time with 17PM, let's see.

that is your telco signal issue. i tried no problem payment using ip16 at china
Actually I had the same experience when going to Beijing last year. My Galaxy S25 (brand new that time) and an Honor phone had issues with retail coffee chains. Really, really slow loading or just didn't load when ordering from the QR menu. The iPhones were doing better (still laggy) but not by much. Restaurant menus glitched out on both Android and iPhone. Ended up having to ask the staff to order for us half the time. I think the issue isn't the type of phone but rather the simcard. We were all using roaming lines (Celcom & Maxis) and not local numbers so some filtering due to the Great Firewall of China was probably still going on in the background when it came to connecting to China websites/servers. I had zero issues with paying using Alipay/TNG but the food menus didn't play nicely at all. All the maps and whatever regular apps worked fine. Didi through Alipay was flawless except for the annoying search bug.
Alipay/Amap/Didi - Nearly flawless
Chagee/Luckin/regular restaurants - Slow or buggy as hell
Google/Apple Apps - No issues
I believe the solution is actually to get a local China simcard and data if you want to order from the local restaurants/coffee chains. Otherwise you're gonna have issues because of the network filtering/censorship even with roaming. Unless you never eat out in China
