This evening, suddenly found the water in the kitchen sink flowing very, very slowly. I contacted a few plumbers and sent video, they quote between rm250 to rm380 if it is a simple and straightforward issue.

Before I get there, anything that I can try?

I’ve never faced this issue before.

I’m considering getting a plunger and some Mr Muscle declogger liquid (not sure how safe and useful is this). Worth a shot? Anything else that can be tried?

We don’t knowingly pour down cooking oil or things like that down the sink. But it’s been 5+ years, not surprised it can get clogged from normal everyday use.

By the way, to add, I believe the clog is near the surface. Cause even after letting the water fully recede and waiting for an hour, just turning the tap on for 5 seconds results in the water clog being visible coming out of the sink hole.

Get a garden hose, make sure high pressure a bit not budak kencing power, unscrew your sink exit pipe underneath nearest the wall and put the hose down the outlet. Turn on water and flush out debris. Expect a lot of dirty water to splash back when you unscrew the outlet have a water basin on standby.

Anything that doesn’t involve unscrewing the underneath of the sink? Cause got knows I’ll just make the matter worse potentially.

means the clog is too heavy ed apa lagi

you think years of clog can remove so easy? like many others said ed, either you pay that RM300 to be clean and get someone else to be dirty

OR

you do the dirty work, and dig the shit inside the pipes out, elbow grease style. its gonna be enlightening when you DIY

No I've not tried it, but nobody is recommending pouring some Mr Muscle declogging liquid, or using a plunger.

SO my question is, why? Are those things not gonna work?

If you dont know what you should do then pay others to do it.

Usually check the traps first and see if it is blocked. If nothing there, can try test drainage of any pipes nearby to see if blockage is only on the sink. If only sink and nothing on traps, maybe you flush something down and it become stuck or the years of pouring cooking oil into the sink have resulted in a massive hardening of oil clump in the pipe which could only be clear with high pressure cleaning.

It's a kitchen sink, at best there are food scraps and related items in there. There can't be anything big flushed in there, since there is a cover on the sinkhole anyways. No pouring of cooking oil either, but yes cooked food that's on the plates or other cooking utensils get washed down while washing them.

Have you cleared the bottle trap below the sink first?

Clear the bottle trap first

Then if possible get the flexible drain clog remover (can buy from hardware shop) to remove all those dirt inside the pipe.

Will a declogger liquid also clear the bottle trap? Assuming that anything in there is going to be food-related (i.e. organic) waste?

I managed to get things going. I plunged for quite a while. Poured some powder stuff in there too.
