Bagan Lalang quiet on weekdays.

PD many beaches, the ones not popular with tourist are quiet even on weekends.

Both the sea equally terrible.

Personally I prefer Bagan Lalang. Can sit and dine at the various seafood restaurants and watch the sunset, or look ant the cranes opposite the port. And when high tide, strong winds blowing at your face.

Bagan lalang is less crowded and commercialised as well.

The eaters are not really clear.

I think they renovated during the MCO period

I remember going before MCO and some of their rooms are clearly run down

Now, it's a lot better and I like their beach in PD because it is on another side which is not near the usual public beaches

near the tanjung biru or the pantai cermin. you know the one side is white sand then opposite side is red sand. that one quite ok, meaning boleh tahan la. not so clean but better than nothing.

PD used to have the best beach for families because easy access, public facilities, no strong undercurrents, a few places with rocks under the water... very safe...
then for some reason, authorities approved buildings by the beach, this suddenly became private beach and outsiders cannot use..
over the years, more and more private projects blocked the good beaches, leaving on a few open to public..
oldies will remember 11th, 13th, blue lagoon, shah motel etc

like TS said overcrowding... now most go to lido beach... many others ( even opposite the army camp) all fenced up.. those available (like you mentioned) full of rocks and razor sharp stones...
previously near the convent, the beach was ok ok because can cross over to the small island in low tide, now all fenced up..
sunshine camp!.. but going to the beach! helluva steep climb

for me, as long as the beach is clear from rubbish, it's considered a decent beach already, unfortunately...

rather drive further up to lumut and get quieter / cleaner beach or just cherating (if not during peak traffic toward east coast, monsoon can do surfing somemore)

Near by blue lagoon there is a hiking trail to secluded beach if you are adventurous.

any proper parking if I drive to Cape Rachado?
which is the better part of PD. upper or lower? based on GMaps, upper region is downtown. I guess easier to find food there? upper to lower region is 40 minutes drive.
I just want a calm beach. no need banana boat or whatever activities.

Red circle no beach. The only beach in red circle is near Avillion. Further up is the Beachfront. There is where all the business center, you will find McD, starbucks and departmental store.

Blue circle is less crowded but nice beach with nature park reserve. There is a light house there. Go to the blue circle for less crowd. I say less because if you truly want peace, go on a work day.

Not sure, I didn’t bring any repellent. long sleeves and pants maybe helps
We were out in te afternoon — only me and the kids got bitten though, not my wife.
Maybe it’s something to do with blood types attracting them? 😅

Lexis beach is too narrow. Walk a few feet and you reach waters. And sand is dark and rough. The last time I went was like 10 years ago. Since then, prefer to go Cherating,Kijal or Thailand for beaches

Went there once on weekday.  Too secluded.  My family and I decide it was not safe to climb/walk though this cape.  Not going to risk our safety.

TS alone and want peace and quiet.. With family maybe not suitable. Else just go to blue lagoon. Easy access

Empty….i think you parked at one of the gov owned properties illegally and have to walk up through some light forest…. There is no one in sight then. We do not feel safe, hence we drove off. I like to emphasise here that the place might be safe but since it was really remote without any other people in sight, we decided to be safe than sorry.

I have been to many beaches that I don’t kena sand flies, like balik, kijal, PD, Lumut, KK, Pantai BERSIH Papar, Penang, Kedah. We kena sand fly at Legend Cherating cos we ventured into the small jungle beside the beach. We did not know it was sand flies as they looked like small specks of dust.

Later we see perfect red spots on our hands, face and legs. Then the itch starts! Bad experience, I’d say.
