Personally I prefer Bagan Lalang. Can sit and dine at the various seafood restaurants and watch the sunset, or look ant the cranes opposite the port. And when high tide, strong winds blowing at your face.
Bagan lalang is less crowded and commercialised as well. The eaters are not really clear. |

PD used to have the best beach for families because easy access, public facilities, no strong undercurrents, a few places with rocks under the water... very safe...
then for some reason, authorities approved buildings by the beach, this suddenly became private beach and outsiders cannot use.. over the years, more and more private projects blocked the good beaches, leaving on a few open to public.. oldies will remember 11th, 13th, blue lagoon, shah motel etc |

If not for swimming, for atmosphere and being close to nature come here can consider this short hike to secluded beach.

I guess easier to find food there? upper to lower region is 40 minutes drive. Red circle no beach. The only beach in red circle is near Avillion. Further up is the Beachfront. There is where all the business center, you will find McD, starbucks and departmental store.
Blue circle is less crowded but nice beach with nature park reserve. There is a light house there. Go to the blue circle for less crowd. I say less because if you truly want peace, go on a work day. |

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Jun 10 2025, 07:34 AM) Empty….i think you parked at one of the gov owned properties illegally and have to walk up through some light forest…. There is no one in sight then. We do not feel safe, hence we drove off. I like to emphasise here that the place might be safe but since it was really remote without any other people in sight, we decided to be safe than sorry. |

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Jun 10 2025, 07:35 AM) I have been to many beaches that I don’t kena sand flies, like balik, kijal, PD, Lumut, KK, Pantai BERSIH Papar, Penang, Kedah. We kena sand fly at Legend Cherating cos we ventured into the small jungle beside the beach. We did not know it was sand flies as they looked like small specks of dust.Later we see perfect red spots on our hands, face and legs. Then the itch starts! Bad experience, I’d say. |
