Some truth to Malays feeling sidelined, says Umno veteran

PETALING JAYA: An Umno veteran says the unity government must look to regain the confidence of the Malays, following former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s latest effort to unite the Malays and “restore their political power”.

Former minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the government cannot avoid or ignore this movement as there was truth to the notion that the Malay community feels sidelined under the unity government.

He added that Mahathir recognised this and was seeking to exploit it for his own political gain.

“Maybe it’s merely a matter of perception or imagination (to some parties), but I think that there’s truth to it (at the grassroots level). And something needs to be done to regain the confidence of the Malays.

“Whatever excuses we want to give, when you go to the grassroots, the reality is that many Malays feel sidelined, and Mahathir is exploiting that,” he told FMT.

Raja Nong Chik claimed that, based on feedback he received, nine out of 10 of his close Malay peers have expressed concern about the fate of the community under the current administration.

“They worry for the future of the Malays, and these are highly-educated guys. We’re not even talking about the grassroots level yet.

“However, this doesn’t mean they will vote for the opposition just yet, it’s just that they want some assurance (that the special privileges of the Malays would be safeguarded,” said the former Lembah Pantai Umno chief.

The new Malay unity alliance was launched by Mahathir on Wednesday, with the backing of Perikatan Nasional’s major components, PAS and Bersatu, as well as several Malay-based NGOs and academics.

Mahathir, a former Umno president who later led Bersatu, Pejuang and Gerakan Tanah Air before leaving all three, said the alliance would not be a formal political party for now but a loose coalition to gather the Malays under one “big umbrella”.

Raja Nong Chik said the government led by Anwar Ibrahim must handle this new political threat wisely to ensure his administration retains the trust of the Malays.

All these "my land, your land", God really issued land grant titles for everyone before in history.

Think about it it was our ancestors who fought with blood and wars among our own races that created nations today with borders.

Today we defend the lands that our ancestors fought upon to provide their future generations with military and sophisticated weapons.

Who has more powerful and bigger weapons gets to claim other nations lands.

But if you think carefully why does the globalist elites want to eradicate race and culture identities to create just 1 human mixed race?

Don't you think they want world domination?

along with Raja Hamzah Abidin, 29, son of prominent Malaysian politician and businessman Utama Raja Nong Chik, and Lionel Leong, also 29, the son of property tycoon Leong Hoy Kum. They set up RHL using the wealth of their families with a plan to attract outside capital and build the firm into Southeast Asia’s leading independent investment group.

See, Anwar, it's not working and never will. Already seen it even before Sg Bakap by-election. So what you gonna do now? Continue the pandering hoping stupidly it will work, or change strategy?

PAS eyes support of ‘critical’ non-Malays disgruntled with govt
https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...ntled-with-govt

PETALING JAYA: Non-Malay voters disgruntled with the Pakatan Harapan-led government are the target of PAS, the largest opposition party in the Dewan Rakyat, as it prepares for the next general election.
PAS vice-president Amar Abdullah acknowledged that Malay-Muslim parties have struggled to gain the support of non-Malays.

However, it was apparent that voters who make up PH’s core support have become increasingly critical of the government led by PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim, Amar said in an interview with Malaysiakini.

“The question now is how PAS can attract them to our side,” Amar was quoted as saying. The challenge was to find more convincing ways to win over the non-Malays ahead of the general election, which is due by February 2028.

While some PH supporters may have become disappointed with the coalition’s inability to execute various reforms it had promised, he admitted that they still disliked PAS due to its perceived hardline Malay-Muslim stance.

“This is what we’re currently thinking about: how to win their support,” he said, adding that the Islamic party must preserve its clean image to retain young voters.

Amar also took a swipe at its Perikatan Nasional partner Gerakan for making statements that have “harmed and undermined” PAS. He urged Gerakan, the only multiracial party in the opposition coalition, to exercise control in making public statements, adding that PAS keeps an eye on such matters.

“I have to be honest here, because occasionally their remarks have backfired. They need to be careful and exercise control, because we’re part of the same coalition. There must be give and take,” he said.

Gerakan has “much to improve” in attracting Chinese voters, who have been largely supporting DAP, and Gerakan’s machinery and groundwork needed improvement, while the party’s image itself needed to be rebuilt, he said.

In November last year, Gerakan president Dominic Lau urged PAS to declare that it will not interfere with the rights of other communities, in order to ease the concerns of non-Malays and boost their support for PN.

However, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man shot down the proposal, saying Gerakan should not blame the Islamic party for its failure to muster support from the Chinese community
