No matter how "optimized" fanboys will tell you IOS is, a 3000mah battery is a 3000mah battery. Battery life will not be good.

Air seems freaking slim and elegant. But Apple might to dumb down its A19 processor in order for it to last longer…
*
You mean throttle down the speeds of the processor for lower battery consumption.

yes the only downside was backup via iTunes might be slow for usb 2.0 , but i think just use wireless backup will do  laugh.gif
And in 2025 , do actually people stil using iTunes? At least among my friend and family , dont surprise that non-of them actually knowing iTunes  biggrin.gif  , only old user might know iTunes because we need using it to update our device in old day biggrin.gif and now , everything to cloud and wireless.
Found back 2012 picture , using itunes to update the iOS  biggrin.gif  , updating iOS in old day was damn scary , will sudden pop-up error  sweat.gif

Haha, yeah bro, I get your point. It’s a fair trade off if you want something that’s so slim, I guess.  As for the USB C speed, I’m just nitpicking on them coz the fact they put the A19 Pro in it and charging RM5k for it, I would think the least they could do is also give it USB 3.0 for the aesthetics  if not for anything else, haha…
OMG, do people still backup via iTunes with a wired cable in 2025?
*
Ehh guys... I still do. Im not paying for Apple Icloud subscription. shakehead.gif

I think you can backup and transfer without having to pay for an iCloud subscription? Not sure, haha.

I have an Apple Family subscription thing coz my wife, kid and mum are also on iPhones - we are Apple whores, I know. Besides, Apple Music is a nice alternative to Spotify and there are some good stuffs on Apple TV+ occasionally!
*
If you dont pay for the subscription you get a very small allocation of storage only which will not be enough for storage. How much do you pay for your monthly subscription? Just curious.

Oh ok… yeah, I’ve just been doing the wireless backup when setting up new iPhone… Haven’t done the iTunes backup in years
Currently paying RM44.90 per month for 200GB and Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade for 6 members… Not a bad deal at all…
*
RM45 for 6 people is not bad at all. About Rm9 each.

just check, sync via wifi and full backup actually are totally different things. so it cannot replace itunes backup via cable.

technically only two ways to do full backup of iphone, one is via icloud one is via itunes over cable.
no other methods.
transfer over wifi is only to move data to new iphone = so it is also not a long term backup solution.

Sync over Wi-Fi only transfers selected iTunes content (music, movies, photos, etc.) from PC to device.
Full backup saves nearly everything on your device (apps, settings, messages, photos, etc.) so you can fully restore it later.

👉 Sync = media management, Backup = complete safety copy.
*
Yes. Its only for those who have a full backup on the pc/laptop only. So you only sync the items that are yet to be synced with the pc/laptop. For complete backup you need a cable definitely.

It certainly is something different from Apple - but not as much hype as when the released iPhone X, hahaha…
*
IPhone X was the flagship back then. It could be different for the Air this round. Unless Apple makes it obsecenely expensive. Then it would be a different story.

eh serious???

last time i walk in Switch they say cannot, they will take back old phone straight away.. damn!!!! thanks for the info!!
*
If you have a lot of data to be transferred from your old phone, it could take hours. So sit at Switch and wait for hours to transfer? sweat.gif

my wife's shop is just next to switch, lel.
*
Then it would not be so bad. But for you only. Other customers would have to spend hours there transferring their data over before handing over their phone. Or backup to pc/laptop before surrendering the phone at Switch.

They could just implement the same SOP as the Apple Store. After all, if no old phone is returned, no refund will be made as the full cost is still charged upon purchase. So, they won't have any loss anyway.
*
Most probably dealers dont that have that system or dont want to go through the hassle. So at dealers, you could straight away trade in your old phone and top up the difference for the new phone. Everything to be settled in one shot.

Slight out of topic.
Since the Air is esim capable only, I may need to convert to it  if I get the Air.

Is it easy to switch between phones later on (via esim)?
I have 2 phones (iPhone and Android ) and now I am switching between them as and when as I like.
*
You have to request your telco to send u the esim everytime you switch phones. Some telcos charge everytime they send out a new esim.

Aiyo. Any chance if you'll know the turnaround time from you request till the carrier send you the esim? Instantaneous or have to wait?

And the charge might be a deal breaker in thw long run.
I switch phone depends on the occasion.
For work I use my Fold, if I go cycling/exercise/travel light  I switch to my iPhone etc.
*
If you be present at your network provider's outlet then it would be immediate. Otherwise it would take 12 to 24 hours. Some telco wont even send online.

And don’t forget to factor in the MagSafe battery pack for RM479 if you need the peace of mind for your battery life. You might be better off getting the 17 Pro.

Mean that the phone not for you  tongue.gif  Skip it and looking for other option.

I would say Air aim really different category of people , not a big majority but some minority who really will appreciate technology. But u need to be affordable and rich first  tongue.gif
*
I think the sim card tray is negligible for the Air . Most of us are on ESim anyway.

QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 17 2025, 05:27 PM)
iphone 17 is having very high CP value indeed. However, it has the greatest flaws is that majority of ppl still prefer bigger display since iphone 6 plus era.

so many will still be forced to buy 17 pro max if they want bigger display if they are not happy with Air.
Obviously apple knows about this and they remove 17 plus this year. else if there was 17 Plus, it may be one of the hottest model ppl buy this year.  tongue.gif
*
All along since the inception of the Pro Max, this has been the best selling model for Apple. I think it would be because Iphone users either go for the highest model or dont bother buying an iphone at all.

If Apple keep the iPhone 17 plus this year, with all the new updates or hardware and same bigger display remaining, and same price for 128gb but get 256gb, I am sure it will attract a lot of new buyers becos CP value is high.

Obviously Apple is smart to remove the 17 plus so that it will not compromise the sale of iPhone 17 pro max.
*
And its costly to maintain so many production lines for different product ranges.

Any chance can get the iphone 17 within this few days?
Just lost my phone, thinking whether should get ready stock iphone 15, 16e, or wait for for iphone 17?

I have to get a phone before Monday
*
Iphone 17 of course. Im sure you can get a unit at any of the resellers or apple store if you are not too picky about the colour and storage. There is enough stocks for everyone.

Just go. Don't need to wait for them to announce. There would be ready stocks for those who go. Especially those who go early.
