Still thinking to get the Pro or the standard version as I prefer lighter phone these days, been really tired with the weight of the Pro iPhones

I guess the only difference is the additional camera, faster USB port and slightly faster chip and slightly bigger battery now

Air is not considered due to battery life
*
CPU should be about the same 6 Core , the different was only the GPU 6 Core (PRO) vs 5 Core , hardly to see different between two for normal consumer.

iPhone 17: 3,692 mAh with 2 Camera Rm3999

iPhone 17 Pro: 3,988 mAh (SIM-tray) With triple camera RM5499

the different Rm1.5k depend on your budget.

Very minor difference as well but that's one thing to consider, thanks!
Yup, budget is not an issue, only concern is the weight, getting real tired of heavy phones

I do care about cellular reception as I do travel a lot these days, perhaps I will wait for the technical reviews from China and make a decision from that

Might go for the iPhone 17 Pro if the antenna system do provide a much stronger signal reception

Been carrying a S25 around to use as hotspot, would be great if I can retire that as well
*
If u are not into rush , better go switch or TRX have a look before making the decision.

Last time i'm used to use big phone too because want to get the better battery life , but since Silicone carb battery was matured and widely use in china phone , i recently been downgrade from 6.8" screen to my current flagship android 6.67" screen but with bigger battery capacity ,lighter weight , my next android phone will be even small and will be aim for 6.3" , i understand how nice holding a small and light weight phone and fit into the pocket vs the big one biggrin.gif

It's made of corning glass, not plastic. I have trust in ugreen products. The cost might be low but quality is good.
*
as u like bro , once your flash on or shooting at night , it will just ruins your RM6k phone camera system. I rather get like X-One seperate one with Sapphire grade if i really want a lens protection rather than 1 whole pcs.

My kid’s currently using my 14 Pro Max too which is also around 73% battery health, what a coincidence, haha. He’s gonna inherit my 16 Pro Max after I get the 17 Pro Max so I think he’s more excited about me upgrading than I am, hahaha…
I have a feeling it won’t be. If that’s important for you I think you need to consider one of those Androids that can do the x100 zoom or something
Bro! It’s been long! Are you upgrading this round?
I am old enough to remember a time when a made in China product garnered much less enthusiasm, hahaha…
Hmm, it just occurred to me that having an orange phone would kinda limit the choices of case colours to match?
*
u can go to the https://www.apple.com/shop/iphone/accessories , click on the iphone 17 pro max case , Apple have all different case of color with 3 Iphone new color prototype , can agak2 see how is the color matching.

So far this look the best for me.

Yea, but i'm in sarawak.
If wanna go there just for Trade-in kinda waste air tix, haha
Cost ++

But November will fly and stay KL for 1 day, maybe see can trade for credit or not.
Same but does battery health (79% in my case) affect trade-in value with Apple Store?
I know those Authorised store - Switch will devalue trade-in amount.
Lai, slap a green color case with oren iphone and become Ninja Turtle - Michelangelo

RM 3700 last year and now RM 3500 only.
No. Next Friday only can see.
Same, if you are in the first batch.
*
Don't forgot iphone 15 pro max launching retail price at RM6499 , and iphone 16 pro max was drop to RM5999 retail , so that might be the different i think for the trade-in value if u ask me , if compared the retail price , the 16pm actually hold better value compared to 15PM smile.gif Or else should be Rm3700 - RM500 different of retail = RM3200 sweat.gif

The tele camera optical zoom is 4x… 8x is a crop…

Errrr
*
Sure le bro , the 4x will snap at 48mp and 8x after crop stil have 12mp , like the vivo X series , honor magic series , but they have advantage over iphone because they using 200mp for telezoom , after combination with AI , those phone look great on superzoom.

So now let wait review how good will be the apple 8x , maybe will see some improvement because now it come with 12gb ram , so the zoom will be working with AI calculation i believe , like the pixel10pro with 16gb ram to help on AI calculation to improve superzoom photo.

My issue is that Apple talk about it like it’s optical zoom. It’s not. It’s equivalent. 🤭

I don’t doubt the results will be better than 16PM at 8x with crop. But this marketing speak irks me. Try to confuse us.

The more I look, the more the vanilla 17 is a “pro” phone without the tele camera. Sudah ada promotion.
*
What they mean was 4x with 48mp optical , and x8 will be as good as with 12mp optical. So let wait the youtube review and see how true is it , i doubt with daylight should be ok but lowlight will be GG.

iphone 17 is good buy if u dont use the telephoto alot , dual 48mp camera system is more than enough for daily unless u are kind person that always visit to concert biggrin.gif , and with only 177gram , caring a slim magsafe powerbank wont be suffering biggrin.gif The only thing have to concern is after 1 or 2 year , the small capacity battery starting degrade , and u will need more charge per day , that is very common issues for small phone. China phone starting to slash big battery like 6000-6500 on their 6.3" phone , thank to silicone carbon.

Really wish Apple can upgrade to SiCarbon battery on next launching , now i like small phone more alot than big phone (my ip16PM) biggrin.gif (because i just downgrade from 6.8" 5000mAh android phone to 6.67" with 6200mAh battery , and i know that was a GREAT move , super happy with smaller and light phone yet big battery , i aim 6.3" with bigger battery on future upgrade)

I guess it may not be so easy to copy Becos it involved hardware I guess. 🤪

Apple can fit the sensor because the dynamic island is big enough , for android , maybe only Huawei or honor can fit because they are the first phone that using dynamic island (Magic Capsule) , if other android want to follow , the camera DOT will need big size and might be not a good looking biggrin.gif maybe they will be using ultra wide sensor and using software to cut become landscape mode (fake landscape) laugh.gif , i really hope android will have this feature too by the way tongue.gif

I think at some point I will want to try the Air too but for me battery life is key coz the iPhone is my main driver - and the fact that Apple is pushing a MagSafe battery pack specifically for the Air doesn’t exactly inspire confidence!
I also use an Android for work but I usually go with the one with the biggest battery available coz when I travel for work I turn on the hotspot for my personal phone to feed off it, haha… Currently using an Iqoo Neo 10 with a 7,000mAh battery - waiting for Realme to release their 10,000mAh battery phone - probably next year, hahaha…

For iPhone, the Pro Max is not just for the battery but also for the display… I do sometimes consume some media off my phone when I don’t have my iPad with me and it’s just a bit better to have the extra screen estate on the Pro Max smile.gif
They will also use a square sensor for their next phones? laugh.gif
*
realme come out 15000mAh biggrin.gif they claim 5 day usage phone , bigger than powerbank capacity , crazy laugh.gif

My iPhone 15 vanilla at 92% BH with 777 charges. Last week kept charging to 99% because was traveling. Usually set 80% max since at work, car or home got charger.
And don’t charge overnight and try not to go below 20% BH. Going strong. I think I’ll hold on till next year if I don’t get tempted. I had 16PM in natural and black… I liked the natural color but it was too heavy and too big to handle with one hand, so came back to 15. Did not feel 16 was a jump from 15 so didn’t bother.

Of course SilCarbon battery will be best but I think that’s at least 2 more years from Apple.

I was using 13 mini, everything was great except battery cannot make it. Degrade heavily since need to constantly charge.
*
Yeah , the pro max with case + temp glass even more bulky + heavy biggrin.gif , when lying down on bed playing the phone , few time miss hold and hit my face, damn pain laugh.gif , i believe the 17 pro max will be even more bulky with case sweat.gif

Sometimes I really wonder if fast charging affects the battery health because I have been using 100w adapter since years ago and my 16 Pro Max is still 100% battery health after almost a year.

I guess set the limit to 80% makes a difference.
*
No , fast charging doesnt effect battery health , only HEAT will effect , if u using fast charging + a fan blowing on your phone while charging and can keep all the way cold , your battery health stil will be good.

If u gaming alot , or taking video for long term that make your phone keep on heating up , your battery health will not good too. And remember not to directly charge your phone when your phone heat , let it cool down first , after a while only plug-in the charging cable.

That the reason why u see xiaomi those 80wwireless charger have a fan biggrin.gif Cooling it down while fast charging and make it more tahan on battery health.

I don't know as I don't keep it cool. Just charge it as it is.

I take photos and videos but I don't game.
Yes, 80% is sufficient for me.
*
Because iphone charging watt not that high , so it wont cause your phone too much heat , and iphone only charging fast to 80% , after 80% it will throttle down , from 80-100% almost no heat while charging my iphone biggrin.gif

but the 20-80% definitely help alot too.

Yes. Charging speed (watts) will be determined by the phone itself.
Thats a pretty fair price no? Some members got theirs new during the sales on shopee at Rm5XXX brand new during sale.
Faster charging at higher wattage will heat up the phone. You will even make it worst by continue using your phone while its charging.
*
yes that correct , that why charging while using isnt recommended , my home have a mini USB charging fan , everytime i charge my phone now , i will turn on the fan to blow up my phone biggrin.gif

Sometime over cool down macam also not good

I remember last time my iPhone SE (gen1) gaming and i stuck it to the aircon in the car there
Battery bloat jor after that sweat.gif

Not sure these day battery how if compare to 9 years ago iPhone SE though.
*
Normal cool down is ok, while its bad when it on negative temperature , even aircond with around 20-24 stil consider normal , dont worry too much in malaysia , u wont kill a battery in here with "cool down" term 😆
