The parasite appears to disrupt sperm function by increasing oxidative stress, damaging mitochondrial function, and reducing energy production, which are critical for sperm movement and survival.

The study suggests that *T. gondii* may contribute to male infertility, particularly in regions with high infection rates, as the parasite can be transmitted through contaminated food, water, or sexual contact. Approximately one-third of the global population is estimated to be infected with *T. gondii*, often asymptomatically, though it can cause severe health issues in immunocompromised individuals or during pregnancy. The findings highlight the need for further research into the parasite’s impact on reproductive health and potential links to infertility treatments.
