I think it has futuristic look but the design will become obsolete very very fast, like most of the EV cars design.

It will be quite a stretch to be used as taxi as the WLTP is 400+ km, given the density of EV charging stations available, even in Klang valley. Well, I can be wrong though.

Yes, there are. But I don’t think the drivers/owners have to apply for approval to use as grab from MOT. As long as the driver and the cars satisfy the requirements set by MOT like drivers license, insurance and road tax. I wonder why MOT wants to test Omoda E5 for taxi, assuming they do not need to approve any cars as taxi, unless it is intended to be used as autonomous driverless taxi.

When did grab car is owned by grab? The cars are owned/rented by the grab drivers, but to be a grab drivers, they must satisfy a range of requirements set by the gov. As far as I know, MOT does not limit what cars can be and cannot be used as long as the car has road tax and insurance etc… which is why I ask why MOT is testing this Cherry E5, since this is not a requirement previously set by MOT. My family got people driving this Chery 1.5T
So far it’s not giving problem

Just that the steering handling is not so nice compare to Toyota , at high speed the steering is damn light

And the weird thing is when accelerating the aircond become less cooler , then when no longer step hard on pedal then aircond cool again

Boot space big, rear passenger comfort it’s good for 2 people

But to become taxi color
It’s really ugly

And if u go China , u don’t really see Chery Omoda5 on the road

But most service centers like H/T the front brake pad already cost RM 200+ to 300+ and so on without including labor charge lagi by the time done that like rm within RM 500 liao

Long overdue that our taxis move ahead and beyond the cheapest of vehicles, most basic of travel and comfort facilities. Look at Korea, where you can see the latest mid and high end models used as taxis. No more ponies , like before.

Like i said only those OEM/after market have better sturdy box, i also remember those original part example Volvo 240 the box is thin and squeezy that time as i still a mechanic , and those old day's those heavy replacement parts mostly don't have box or Plastic only paper wrap with few strip kind of secure it only occasionally very expensive part only come with wooden box other than that mostly is thin box squeezy and soft packaging from original part.
