Oh if my memory serves me right, aside from Nurul Izzah become the party vice president while her dad is the president, there is no precedent on any other party at all. Meaning while sure sons of previous party president does become president or even deputy president at one point, but it happens when other non-relatives become the president.

Normally at UMNO, Daddy in power, son is outside of party system, daddy retire baru anak masuk. Tun Razak passed away baru Najib masuk UMNO, Tun M retire then Mukhriz masuk UMNO contest for top post. Some sort of unwritten rule in UMNO

Then Khairy masuk, won youth chief UMNO post while Pak Lah hold PM and UMNO president seat, somehow that broke the unwritten rule.
