The X70, X50 was decent…

The most eye catching product for me was probably the X50 and emas7 launch though.

The lower end product like saga, persona, iriz, savvy help a lot of lower income and fresh grad get thru… useful product

Geely era > mistubishi era > proton alone era

The only proton i like is under Mitsubishi engine+proton putra .

Malaysia has one of the biggest passenger car footprint....compare to Thailand...

Proton has been a real big torn in the country progression to excel in car automotive IMO...so how many parts today from Geely are sourced from local products?.....at least if it was other car automakers, we would probably have SMEs booming as part suppliers regionally and possibly international....
instead....we put all hope into this 50 years of "liability"....enriching a few, under the expenses of citizens....

proton pre-geely was problematic because of power train right? the fuel guzzling engine and punch cvt. but one thing proton did especially under syed zainal was a R&D heavily on EV 15 years ago. they basically look forward to prepare for post-ICE era. but najib admin at that time had it enough with proton and ask khazanah to sell to other party with agreement to do JV with any foreign entity.

if only proton able to do EV on its own,.... whatever.

New Saga launching. If comes with Geely 1.5L engine might be better choice than current Persona. Not sure.

Yes, if new X50 provides 1.5L turbo 4-cyl across all variants and maintain current pricing, should provide a good fight to incoming China brands.

X50 will be 4 cylinder turbo this time . But got to sell all current X50 before new one can launch.

Just looking for a second car for neighborhood drive and short distance drive
