I have a real-life example among my friends:

The man is 36 years old, and the girl is 17.


They live about 100 to 110 km apart.



🛣️ Distance: Around 100–110 km
🚗 Driving time: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic
🚌 Express bus: Takes about 2.5 hours

If the man take the morning bus at 7:00 AM, he can reach the place by 9:30 AM.


They can meet on the weekend, but the man need to leave the girl area before 10 AM.

The man need to wake up early on monday




They're considering meeting once a month to maintain the relationship. But the girl’s grandmother doesn’t allow her to go out with him.




Her parents are working in another state, so they’re not always around.

Can such a relationship last long despite the age gap and the distance?

I wake up at 4:50 a.m. every Monday to Friday, so I don’t chat with her until 9 or 10 p.m.

I do face some work pressure, but I just focus on studying.

Dont know yet, my case is 6 months but expectations are not very high. We live one day at a time and just enjoy the process while we can.

I personally think it is the frequent texting, video calls and makes the connection strong. Sharing life's up and down consistently builds the relationship and maintains a strong link. Once the text and communication stops, there's no more relationship to speak of. Then the once a month meet up becomes very intense and memorable, appreciating each other's physical presence. Then we go back to daily routine and plan for the next physical meet up. Quite fun lah. But again it is setting and meeting expectations.
