Money trumps anxiety. If petrol cost more than ev, they'll find a way to make it work.

Then people will just pay and pump regardless. Range is range.

Probably crying see how their battery degrade in our weather and their long range hunting for working charging network.

said it before EV very hard to work in AUS due to the distance between 1 city to another...a lot of desert in between

this all links back to one thing only, the EV chargers infra

cause if you have tonnes of EV chargers installed all over the country like how petrol stations are, its not an issue anymore

this is why ill never buy an EV today, their infra isnt ready to support

heard their charging station also not enough and as always 3rd party charging station isn't reliable or well maintained

so all it all...it doesn't work at the end laugh.gif

Even if infra is good. I wouldn't even want to wait even half an hour to top up my battery so that I can continue my journey. If I fill up with petrol, it would only take 5 mins max.

QUOTE(dickybird @ May 22 2025, 09:33 PM)
Even intra city driving distance is huge. You drive from south Sydney to work in eastern suburbs can be up to 2 hours.
*
Yup. That is true. EVs are only meant for city slickers who don't drive much.

but many say ev is dying, they saw ev sales drop 1% they are like gone mad lol

just that ev sales number slowly and steadily rising or maintain worldwide..ev should be dead by now judging by the reaction but its clearly not lol

Data from the Australian Automobile Association revealed just 17,914 EVs were sold in the first three months of 2025 or just over 6 per cent of all vehicle sales in the country...That represents a drop of 1.12 per cent in market share quarter to quarter.

Plug-in hybrid sales almost doubled in the first three months of 2025 to 13,698 or almost 5 per cent of the market. That’s up from 7556 sales (2.63 per cent) in the last quarter of 2024.
The number of conventional hybrid vehicles sold increased from 42,618 to 46,115 over the same period.

Vehicles with traditional petrol engines continued to make up the vast number of sales in Australia for the first quarter of 2025 but did experience a drop.
More than 206,800 vehicles were sold, comprising 72.68% of all sales in Australia. Those figures represent a drop of about 10,000 sales and almost 2.5 per cent market share compared to the end of 2024.

-traditional petrol vehicles dropped 2.5% market share
-hybrid sales increased
-PHEV doubled from 2.6% to 5%
-EV dropped 1%

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025...ummet-elon-musk
Australian Tesla owners troubled by the increasingly extreme rightwing politics of the company’s co-founder, Elon Musk, are offloading their electric vehicles or using bumper stickers to distance themselves from the Trump-aligned billionaire.

TS accidentally forgot to mention traditional ICE vehicle dropped 2.5% market share.
as comparison, EV only dropped 1% market share (mainly due to boycott elon), while PHEV doubled, hybrid sales also increased.

According to your post, dropped 1% market share = dying, traditional ICE vehicle dropped 2.5% = dying faster at double rate?

whistling.gif

======================

update:
look at what i found

ICE vehicle market share in Australia
Q1 2022 88.73%
Q2 2022 90.33%
Q3 2022 87.73%
Q4 2022 86.18%
Q1 2023 86.40%
Q2 2023 83.15%
Q3 2023 81.20%
Q4 2023 82.00%
Q1 2024 78.16%
Q2 2024 75.47%
Q3 2024 74.17%
Q4 2024 75.11%
Q1 2025 72.68%

From the data, thread title should be "traditional ICE vehicle sales drop to lowest level in 3 years", expert should also claim "recovery might never be possible for traditional ICE vehicle?"

seems like those who boycott elon didnt even go back to traditional ICE vehicle, your post #8 research seems incorrect & questionable
