Sapura Industrial Inks JV Deal To Set Up Lithium Battery Plant In Malaysia

Sapura Industrial Berhad has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SIB Ventures Sdn Bhd , has entered into a binding Heads of Terms agreement with Zhejiang Zhongze Precision Technology Co. Ltd to set up a manufacturing facility in Malaysia for lithium battery precision structural components. The products from this facility are intended for export to international markets.

The joint venture will be executed through a new company, which will be incorporated under Malaysian law. SIB states that this partnership will provide new market opportunities for its manufacturing capabilities and further solidify its position as a trusted growth partner in Malaysia and the region.

SIBV will provide assistance and support to the JVC in corporate, licensing, environmental, and regulatory matters, and assist in sourcing the plant’s location.

ZZ Tech will assist in procuring materials, machinery, and equipment, provide technical and technological support, training, and expertise, and offer customer service, sales, and support to the JVC.
ZZ Tech, incorporated in the People’s Republic of China on February 23, 2016, specializes in the manufacturing of lithium battery precision structural components.

SIB states that the HOT is not expected to have a material impact on the company’s earnings, earnings per share, net assets, net assets per share, or gearing for the financial year ending January 31, 2026. The agreement also does not affect SIB’s issued and paid-up share capital or the shareholdings of its substantial shareholders.

SIBV will finance its investment in the JVC through internally generated funds and/or bank borrowings.
