Generally once the nuke reactor is decommissioned, they will sell as scrap to recycle the steel. High tensile steel = more valuable.
97% of the materials can be recycled and the scrap process will take 2 years. Their last conventional carrier (Kennedy) just went to the scrap yard. https://www.workboat.com/government/carrier...to-the-breakers |
