Greetings everyone,

I'm currently looking for a new TV for my family to replace our 13-year-old Panasonic.

TBH I am quite tempted with the TCL C6K since it is miniLED and really affordable, but kind of hard to convince my family since they don't want China brand for some reason.

Also, I am looking for something that lasts for at least 5-7 years, preferably more, so OLED is not an option even though I would love to have one.

So, here are the models, all are 55-inches:

1. TCL C6K: RM2.3k-2.5k, miniLED, looks great to my eyes given the price
2. Sony X85L: RM3.5k, VA panel, also looks good considering the panel
3. Sony X90L: RM4.5k, similar as X85L but with better processor
4. Wait for more models, probably LG QNED86A or Sony Bravia 5, both miniLED as well

Which one would be the best pick of the above?

i am afraid of sony tv's longevity but seriously for TV, sony is my only choice which i cannot accept other brands, i may still go with sony anytime.

bravia 5 should be a decent choice, i saw it in person and comparing to bravia 9 which i saw in the sony centre, i would say that it is not too far off, both due to the limitation of mini-LED and not OLED, none of them can achieve true black and still have blooming.

personally i will only buy OLED though becos the picture quality is day and night difference comparing to the mini-LED. it is something that one can immediate tell the difference when they see a OLED and mini-led TV side by side.

Currently looking for Sony Bravia 5, LG QNED86 (2025) or C5, and TCL C6K.

Budget: 4.5k and below
Use case: Sports, movies, Malay drama (ask my family lol) and news, no gaming (cannot plug in PS5 because of GTA)

Current prices:

1. Bravia 5 around 5.5k, which is a lot for mini LED
2. C6K can still get around 2.5-2.7k
3. QNED86 (2025) also mini LED, around 3.6-3.7k
4. C5 sits in just nicely at 4.5-4.6k, 48 inch though while the rest are all 55 inch

Should we just shoot up for C5 since it looks like the best deal compared to the rest or save up and just get C6K?

LG worth it? Their miniled used to be really lousy compared to their competitors.
