The opposite for me. My thinkpads always last for years. Dell, HP, Asus all have problems in short order. Current thinkpad bought in 2019. Feels like it needs a refresh soon but working without issue even though I leave it on 24/7.
Since T490 which comes with Intel 8th gen CPU, the subsequent T series ; Thinkpad T14 and 15 all come with soldered memory and 1 RAM slot. I mean 13 inch laptop i get it because of space constraint, soldered memory cant be avoided, but 15" ones also do like that is outrageous. It hampers repairability especially talking about enterprise laptops.
Soldered memory is the biggest nono for me. The equivalent class HP Elitebooks 800's and Dell Latitude 7000's comes with 2 RAM slots and SODIMMs are easy to replace.
