Thinkpads always fail me. I got a T series few years ago.
Started out with some hairline cracks around the charging port and grows longer and longer. Stupid thing. |

Feels like it needs a refresh soon but working without issue even though I leave it on 24/7. Since T490 which comes with Intel 8th gen CPU, the subsequent T series ; Thinkpad T14 and 15 all come with soldered memory and 1 RAM slot. I mean 13 inch laptop i get it because of space constraint, soldered memory cant be avoided, but 15" ones also do like that is outrageous. It hampers repairability especially talking about enterprise laptops. Soldered memory is the biggest nono for me. The equivalent class HP Elitebooks 800's and Dell Latitude 7000's comes with 2 RAM slots and SODIMMs are easy to replace. This post has been edited by k!nex: May 19 2025, 12:50 AM |

The only series that matter is P, X, T and E depending on where your budget sits.

All my Thinkpads are mostly X series. Travel a lot.
R32 - year 2003 X201i - year 2008 X240 - year 2013 X395 - AMD, year 2019 > still using today! None of them died, all still working but older ones get slower as they get bogged down with heavier software updates. |

Last time I got an E-series, last me 11 years wei.
This year I got a T-series, hopefully can last many years too. But I have to say, keyboard is not as good as the old one. Old one very nice to type hard-hard when you are angry lol. |

Using x1, good.
Use to have a x65 (if I remember it correctly), like the size for mobility. |
