In my area, many traditional kedai runcit, kedai motor blah blah joined Shopee self collection point.

Within 1km range, got more than 5 new self collection points and they are kedai runcit, kedai motor.

So good business ya?

The good thing is, their operation hours are late until night like 8-10pm. So more convenient for certain people who go home late and collect at the time.

I don't think so with such a high price of RM1 per parcel.

If not mistaken, is on volume basis, say 1000 parcel for RM100 only or ...

for my place there is one collection point at one Petronas petrol station rclxub.gif

first time collecting there, I thought it's one parcel/mailbox shoplot but the map clearly states it's at petrol station, and the operating time states that it open until 9pm, but it's 24hrs petrol station wo.

Show the barcode to the staff then the staff has to search through those 20+ small packs in their large bin

it's not about good business or not
it's because they had to do that to compensate, their business is badly affected by 99 speedmart

if your kedai runcit is at PJ and has good parking in front....your business is gonna be good as a self pickup location

It's ok at least free than some unauthorised roadside hawker charging RM1 for each of your parcel, yes each, you have 10 then pay RM10 just because guard dont allow them to go up your unit. Or they lazy to do so.

Regardless my parcel lost due to these hawkers busy selling food and managing the parcel at the same time didnt check which parcel gave to whom.

Bloody pookie. Senang buat duit.

No, They have limitation on parcel size for self collection point. When it is larger than xxx size or kg, you won't be able to opt for self collection point.

I haven't try self collect before because I'm worried I'll have to search through a mountain of parcels for mine. Is that how it is?

yes, one of the gift shop also be the self collection point and drop off point too. Slowly diversify into this business when it becomes their main business.

not kesian la

if the main business can't sustain anymore, it is good to diversify into something that can bring profit at least to cover the costs.

if like that the shop will kena first because let outside people touch other people's parcel biggrin.gif later they take 2 instead of 1, 1 of it put it in their pocket

my experience from Petronas petrol station was that they had put all the small parcels in a big bin behind their counter, then another staff will look through all the small parcels until they find your name on it. They will scan first if the barcode matches with your PIN number assigned for the parcel before handing it over. They actually asked me when was the parcel delivered, I said 3 days ago, they did sort their bins in delivery date for them to easy sort it out I guess. I still have to give my details like name and phone for their book keeping

I was expecting to get it from a self pick-up locker as well like TS mentioned, much more convenient. But I think the costs of setting up that isn't worth it compared to just do manual labour, shoving all the parcels in big bin then find it one-by-one later.

There is a limit to the price of item for self collect. About rm50-60 max. I always see that when checkout.

It depends on the center themselves. For the closest to mine, it’s actually a J&T shop

Altho I guess if that collection point is at a busy area the staff will still need to sift thru a mountain of parcels, though, lol. My area small town, pickup always less than 5 mins

Honestly I prefer this collection point concept.

Lately I ordered quite few items and all requested to self collect at the store.

But the disadvantage is if you ordered big size item, cannot self collect.

Went to the new self collection point to collect my parcel last night at 7pm. It is a small mart which operates 24-hours. But the collection is available only from 8am-8pm.

They have good business after 10pm-4am as many people come out at these hours to buy drinks, rokok etc.
