For me top 3 Suikoden II > Breath of Fire IV > Chrono Trigger
FFX is not within my top 25, story wise not strong... though i really like To Zanarkand that i took time to practice the complete score on piano.

Special mention is FFT, FF8, FFIX which i replayed 3x although no such NG+

Persona 4 > Persona 5

Also longest playing is FFXIV.. damn casual with no gear progression cockblock... though it dont fit in this category

The last 2 is exceptionally good in story telling and gameplay...why Square Enix can't make this kind of good stuff anymore?

FF8 had that sweet spot on difficulty for first timers, a short complete story without any convulated sideplots and a simple happy ending. Faye Wong's Eyes on Me is top 5 in FF songs.

in terms of budget, FFX had a much bigger production value with the power of PS 2, making the emotional ride, a longer & more fleshed out journey for every character in the game.

Apparently Shadow Hearts 2 is a relatively rare PS2 game. At least the original copy is quite rare and not many people actually played it.
May not be the case in Malaysia back in the 2000s … coz of piracy.

I played for like few hours but not managed to finish the game.

Aside for that, I also like Final Fantasy III but I played the remake ver on PSP. Also not managed to finish the game due to corrupt savedata.

Old school RPG is still the best. I will take them over whatever new games we have now.

By the time i finish SH1 and 2, sudah tak larat go back to PS game due to graphic. lol. Besides, i am too poor to buy ps1 that time.

In reverse, i think SH1 has better storyline and more meaningful connection to Koudelka. The opening is still very fresh in mind.

SH2 is more like a longer epilogue for Yuri to die, with a weird antagonist and weird side quests. If i didnt play SH1, i will like SH2 more.

Wouldnt compare voice acting cause this stuff is usually progressively better as game advances.

To trigger people more, Parasite Eve 1 is better than Parasite Eve 2.
