I did a simple conversion from PDF to XLSX. Apply a Colour Filtering based on these Criteria. 1. Type M - Filter with "BIN" (Coverage big enough for BIN/BINTI 2. Type I - Filter with "/" for "A/L" or "A/P" 3. Type C and Others dropped into No Fill. 4. Manually Filter through Step 1-3 for Misrepesented Groups 5. Apply =SUBTOTAL(3,C5:C812) counter to ease my Filtering counting.
Interesting finding got a kid with the name "RIKA TSUKADA". I think Japanese kid took Malaysian SPM.
Personal thought on how to game this system to get the SPM full scholarships 1. Reopen back SPM Subjects to 14-20 subjects, without the 12 subject cap. 2. Maintain 9A+ Scholarship eligibility requirement. 3. Let's all the smart students to know how to game the system, go sit all the watered down ez list of SPM subjects to get 9A+, by sitting atleast 12+ subjects with 4 or more backups A+
Apparently based on MOE, we have 95 SPM Subjects, Pretty sure finding few more As in that list would be easier.
For those type-C who plans to game the system: 1. Drop SPM Bahasa Cina for easier subjects, you have 3-4 more back up subjects from the availability Subject List to Score A+. Maybe takes Econs/Principle of Accounting/Computer Science/Arts/....
Given Bahasa Cina always cause type-C to fail to get 9A+. Otherwise it is Moral / BM is rigged. Personally as someone who struggled with Malaysian Bahasa Cina Syllabus, dropping BC in exchange for other subjects will get better ROI. But surely some Dongzhong will marah, will end up killing the SPM subject.
But I think if the SPM Candidate thinks that if they will not get hired because their SPM Cert don't have Bahasa Cina. Can always resit the SPM Bahasa Cina in the next following year. Secure the LSPM/JPA Scholarship first. Consider the consequences of not taking Mandarin at SPM level later. But generally most company see you skin look like Cina. Speak abit of Cina, they close one eye let you in already. Interesting finding so many M right now smarter than type C. Not sure is it because more M in this generation compared to Type C. Need to do an analysis on no of Type of Students / Overall number of their race analysis.
But I think Type C might be still smarter Given we smaller population and bred and has less kids compared to Type M. Comments to KPM: 1. 2025 liao, please translate or make our education more accessible by making of Digital textbook and exam papers atleast bilingual. Who the hells studies Computer Science in Malay
Adding English, and Malay into our Syllabus will definitely lessen the gap difference, or atleast improve basic subjects fundamentals in terms of understanding.
Or atleast force people who fails SPM Sejarah to get atleast a pass, given if more English exams are given as an bilingual answering option. Since not every Malaysian can be fluent in Malay. Heck Melayu pun can fail SPM BM.
2. We need to introduce SPM at Different Difficulty Levels like in Singapore. They have introduced G1(weak) / G2 ( normal) / G3 ( express/export ) subjects in their O-Levels to level out the playing field. (But I can see students will abuse this system to take all G1 subjects to aim for scholarships )
3. Transparency on Grading Thresholds, Bellcurves points and Statement of Results Slip. I saw alot of Type-C Keys paying RM100 / paper, to get their paper remarked most of them get Kekal, hardly gotten Berubah change.
I think Statement of Results should atleast give students see whether their should remark their papers. By providing a percentage uniform mark. (PUM) system But you can keep your SPM Official Certification to be the same, without displaying the Percentage Uniform Mark.
Just follow what is Cambridge is doing.
Also give students an option to buy back their Exam Scripts with actual examiner comments and markings.
Also not sure why in Malaysia our exam papers are Confidential along with its marking scheme by Law. Alot of countries like Australia / UK / New Zealand have their exam paper marking scheme, exam reports and comments, released publically.
Thanks for the analysis. I remember last time, a perfect score means a lot more than 9A+. If 9A+, then take 12 subjects can have back up...
They streamlined this since 2012/13/14, where anyone with SPM 9A+ is eligible for full scholarships, when they introduced the 12 subject caps. I checked back online people back in the day pre 2005, can sit 20 SPM subjects especially those Muslim students taking so many Islam subjects...
Hopefully alot of loophole smart kids discover this by now. Really why work hard your way when you can take the shortcut route, to take all ezpz confirm A+ subjects.
If I didn't saw the passing rate for 2023 or older. Somehow we have some miracle coursework SPM projects where students keep scoring A+/A ... If you read the Subject Analysis Report from 2023...
Yes, back then you could take more than 20 if you want. But it comes with a risk of not scoring all of them. I remember back then there was 16A1 or something. To get scholarship, need perfect scores of A1 (for nons anyway) or if you are lucky, can have one A2.
And yes, I agree that better to take ezpz subjects as extras, on top of the regular 3 sciences and 1 Add Maths. Just take things like Muzik or Lukisan or other easy ones. Prinsip Akaun is somewhat useful IMO.
I also reviewed the Subject Analysis Report and could not believe my eyes. For the first time I see the report and am able to see how easy it is to get As in some subjects. Surprisingly, Add Maths is a killer.
