Woman falls out of car on Jalan Lukut-Sepang, killed after being run over by tanker in freak accident

SEREMBAN, May 4 — A woman passenger died when she was run over by a tanker after she fell out of her car while it was negotiating a curve at Kilometre (KM) 26 Jalan Lukut-Sepang, Port Dickson here this morning.

Port Dickson district police chief Supt Maslan Udin said the victim, 39, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries to the head.

“Preliminary investigations indicated that the accident occurred when the right rear door of the Perodua Myvi the woman was in suddenly opened while the car was negotiating the curve, causing her to be thrown into the opposite lane where she was hit by an oncoming Volvo tanker.

“The woman’s husband, 34, who was driving the car, and their five-month-old baby, who was in a child safety seat in the front passenger seat, along with the tanker driver were unhurt,” he said in a statement here today.

Checks also revealed both vehicles had valid road tax and insurance, while results of the car driver‘s urine test were negative, he said, adding that footage of the tanker’s dashcam had been obtained.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and no criminal elements were found, Maslan said.

He advised the motorists to ensure that their vehicle’s doors were securely locked especially when carrying passengers to avoid such incidents from recurring.

Meanwhile, a man, 20, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a van that failed to stop at a red traffic light along Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1, Paroi near here just past midnight, Seremban district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said.

“The victim died at the scene due to severe injuries to the head after a Toyota Hiace driven by a man, 44, with a woman passenger, 20, from Senawang heading to Bahau failed to stop at the traffic light and hit the Yamaha Y15ZR driven by the victim,” he said in a statement today, adding that the victim’s body was taken to Rembau Hospital’s forensics department for autopsy.

Both the van driver and the passenger were unhurt, and the driver has been arrested to facilitate investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said, as he urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer, Insp Tiew Chuan Jie at 014-9668399 or the nearest police station. — Bernama

for the most newer car yes , seat belt include also

but knowing our second hand market car stuff, it is old era of 2010 before or 2014

thing start to change a lot after 2016 , car start to have read tng balance, seat belt sound, can go how many KM base on your oil tank, Auto brake , sensor parking etc etc

last time no such thing, everything manually know and agak agak feeling

most people till today dont know one, saw my relative put baby at front, want to tell them put front dangerous but i saw they dont buy any child seat at the back and i felt bad for point out wrong, u will be surprise how many ppl put child at the front

a few possibilities.
door not properly closed. meaning half closed, not fully latched.

second, the door latch gave way. either factory defect or just low quality.
when i was in the automotive industry, they were hearsays that some company even skipped heat treatment (annealing) process for the door latch, to save costs, to reduce production time etc.

third, maybe the woman was suicidal and opened it herself.

I think many new cars don't have autolock. Older models have it then they stop in newer models. Apparently if it loses power after a crash, the doors can't be opened by emergency responders.

I dunno about the lower version Myvi. But 2008 Myvi 1.3 EZI has seatbelt & dash light, and also door not closed light.

But the 17 year old one i am driving, sometimes has sound sometimes not. But the dash lights work.

For safety, if you auto locked then if any crash, good luck trying to unlock and get out or somebody trying to get you out.
If you can fell out when rounding a bend means she not wearing safety belt.

Newer car have the autolock feature disabled by default now due to safety. I dont remember when it starts but all cars have that features but it was disabled.

U sure? As far as i know, this was true like 10-15 years ago, but now not anymore. All cars will come with auto lock as long as it will auto unlock once it comes into accident.

Not really, refer my post above. There is a period where auto lock is disable. But now all, or almost all new cars will have this, as long as they are equipped with a sensor to automatically unlock when it gets into accident.
