The only phone that can last 5 years is iPhone. All android phone will just lag after 2 years.

Nope. My mom's iPhone 7, 3 years use mobo kong. My bro's iPhone 8 & 9 (or was it 9 & 10, not sure), within 2 years already sent to machines to fix what kind of hardware issue I'm not sure. My iPhone 7 not 5 years already have overheating issue. But my bro's iPhone 5 last more than 10 years I think without any issue except changed the battery. So my conclusion was, older versions of iPhone was durable, but not so much for the newer ones. They're worse than android phones (for hardware durability), at least that's what my experience was

I see current mid range phones can last around 3 years, more if lucky. If buy around RM1000 last 3 years then 1 day cost RM1 only.

Most mid android will only give 2-3 years android updates only unless flagship model.

Only iPhone can guarantee 7 years update and above…(like xs max launched in 2018 still in support until this year ended with IOS 19)

Once phone cannot update OS anymore can trash it already…

Most times its also equally important to take note on the frequency of the update, not just the duration of update.

Mid to low tier devices often rank low on this area. Getting updates infrequently and often fixes old bugs but introduce new bugs/performance issues. Thereafter need months and months to fix afterwards.

Correct. But I'm not worried about that. Been a problem-free Redmi Note user since 2014.

Am more concerned if that 6 yr update thingy is real news or not.

I'm with this, software update these days are very incremental that they are not worth all that hoohaa to fuss about. If you worried about security a lot of the time the attacks falls on how you've allowed it through how you use your phone

For old iphone, the later update made the phone becomes slower. Had old iphone 11 pro max, last time ok after 3 major update, slow until cant use

Nah, your claim is baseless. Show me certified and verified report showing it will lag after 2 years.

Main tabur cam bodo IQ50 je.

Samseng Galaxy Nota 9 user here. Still going great after 6½ years.

Your phone lag is purely user's problem.

My iphone 7 plus still doing great with their final update, zero lag, which is surprising. My previous ipads, all become lag after install final update.

Yeah it is slowing down massively and laggy after these last 3 major update. On normal apps like whatapps is acceptable (still not smooth as last time) but any apps to just edit pictures it lagged. And camera sometimes pop up error, need to force close and open back, read reddit many kene as well.

Your iphone 7 stop iOS at 15.8.3, while my 11 get to iOS 18. But it lagged and better if I not updating it last time

The most affordable is Poco F6 @ RM1300+-
Most expensive in list is 14T Pro @ RM2200+-

Help me choose.
I change phone every 5 years.
Need one that will still viable for next 5 years.

No iphone please.
Im not a content creator etc that can get ROI buying an expensive phone.

Just a normal user for personal and work use.

Basic iPhone is surprisingly good.
