Hi All.

I drive an Iriz and previously on Ftuned CLS lowering spring for 2 years plus before swapping back to stock standard spring. When I revert back to stock, I also replace all absorbers, absorber mounting, absorber link and lower arms (all original and brand new). The only old thing is the standard stock coil spring.

However, I found that the ride quality is totally off. Very harsh and doesn’t absorb road imperfections really well as it should because I can feel every one of it that jolts the whole car. It’s safe to say I can feel no difference going from lowering spring to standard spring if that makes sense 😅 Driving at high speed, the car doesn’t seems to settle. It’s like riding on a motorcycle.

I do remember Iriz ride quality is pretty supple and decent offering good balance between comfort and handling. I also test drive my friend’s iriz and that confirms it.

Possible the coil spring is no longer active is absorbing effectively? The springs are left on the shelf for about 2 years plus and aged the same as the car (11 years old as of this year).

My tyre is continental ultracontact 7 with tyre pressure set the optimal comfort setting.

The standard spring is being used prior to using Ftuned lowering spring. I remember the ride quality was pretty nice. But after two years of using Ftuned CLS, I revert to the same exact standard spring but now the ride quality is trashed.

The difference between standard and ftuned cls were pretty significant where ftuned cls is hard as expected. But now the difference are less pronounced than before. Standard spring should offer significantly more comfort just like before putting ftuned cls

Hence why my assumption is the spring has gone bad.

I’m thinking of getting new set of original spring to replace, but would like to know if anyone have had similar issues because spring gone bad is pretty uncommon.

lowered spring not hard but short height make body weight preload forcing the absorber to reduce movement limits.

car spring is almost impossible to go bad...

the modulus of elasticity / springiness will only change if super over compressed, stretched or under extreme high heat... none of which happens to your spring...

so most likely new absorber is harder...
