Friend of mine owes me money which he had been paying me monthly in a fixed amount but recently there's some unforeseen circumstances struck him to which he wasn't able to pay me at all, he offered me his ASUS RTX 5090 TUF OC which priced at RM15k retail in Lowyat plaza but I'm not sure if it's a smart way for me to accept this as payment? Lots of LYN members tend to lowball you like crazy lol. I'm hoping to get 11K so I can get my money back. There's nothing wrong with the GPU, he still kept the receipt, there's 2 years local warranty with 1 year from ASUS. What do you guys think? Should I accept this GPU as payment?

Your friend has no money but has a 5090? Ok maybe he won it through a contest or company event.

If I were you, I'll take it and put it up for sale. It won't be on sale for too long. Check out carousell price just to be sure what's the market price today.

15K in retail sure, but not many willing to pay EVEN 5K for a GPU, much less 11k... ...

Ask your friend sell it then return money back to you,

then discuss any outstanding.

If I got money to splash on a 11k item ..... why not just + a few k more for a totally new one?

You either ask him sell then pay you, or refuse to take the item. There is a reason why he past you an item instead of cash ..... either the card is stolen or bought from black market, or he is trading speculation.

Just like pokemon cards, I borrow 1k from you, buy a bunch of packs to open, then pay you back with a few cards that stack up to 1k in price list.

this, while RTX5090 is indeed very very highly valued among PC enthusiasts, but its pointless if you cannot liquidate it into cash

This. if he got the 5090, he can sell and payback you.

What kind of cool story of him giving you the GPU and ask you to sell. probably that GPU is broken

Tell him, you only take money, not GPU and etc.

Im guessing the friend also dont want to deal with hassle of selling stuffs or he's trying to scam you with broken items. Who knows.

I mean if i had the money i would lowball TS around 8-9k for a working 5090 lol

Depends how despo is ts..
Sometimes just take it and sell at lose and total the balance is better than having total zero..

Well this depends ur fren how trustable on repayment..

2 sides of coin.. but money issue definitely will wreck relationship

who the heck is going to pay you rm15k for a 5090?
there are only 3 people in all of malaysia that are both dumb enough and rich enough to buy it and all 3 of them probably already bought it.

on the other hand.. if you don't take it.. most likely money won't get back.. might as well take the item first.. sell it and get a little money back.

Ask him to sell and give you the cash, or give you the gpu + RM500 at least (for your trouble of selling the gpu), note that the RM500 doesn't count as paying you the initial debt
