this is a thing since I was born.
triads controls city center, police turns blind eye.
Maybe politician are involved, who knows, maybe a minister in cabinet right now.

Guys like Lee Long been running freely for years until he got caught for kidnapping.
They controls the price of commodities in Sarawak like chicken eggs.

Kuching got Ah Kaw, who we often hear his name when I was in school.
Then got Malay gangs also, masked as silat practitioner.
Tiga Line wannabe. Cikgu this, cikgu that.

But social media wasn't a thing back then.

Now that everyone knows a killing here, a slaughter there. Government need to step up or the state image affected. FDI potential will be affected

you don't need social media to know who are the criminals.
follow the police reports and crime statistics, not viral videos

it is well know the kongsi gelap here always have active politicians and tycoons at their higher hierarchy
Just look at Sibu Ti.

- BERNAMA

Junaidi berkata demikian ketika diminta mengulas laporan Sin Chew Daily, Rabu lepas yang mengatakan sebilangan ahli politik ternama menaungi beberapa kumpulan kongsi gelap dan menjadi penasihat kumpulan terbabit.

Kumpulan itu meliputi "Geng 04", "Geng 08", "Geng 21" dan "Geng 36" daripada kalangan kaum India; "Hong Shun Tang", "3821", "Wu Se Qi", "Hong Men" dan Hua Ji Dang" daripada kalangan kaum Cina; serta "Geng 3 Calit" daripada kalangan kaum Melayu.

Sementara itu, Menteri Muda Perumahan Sarawak Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, berkata tindakan tegas patut diambil terhadap ahli politik yang didapati terlibat kegiatan kongsi gelap.

Sibu always known as Cowboy Town, even before social media and without the data from police stats.

Social Media is different, it is always up in your face, whether you want to see it or not. Maybe it is always the case for Kuching too, it wasn't known for this much blood until recent years.

My street smart elder brother is also shocked these things are now happening in broad daylight

Born and raise in Kuching, lived in Sibu for 4 years, Limbang for 2 years.
Back then, fights is always between 2 rivals schools or
2 rival villages or 2 rival triads.
I've been in fights and also saw a lot of them, mostly in clubs.
I've once saw 2 village groups fight also.

I've personally known people who kills people in fight
one got case thrown on self defense (a martial art guy, happen in Hilton early 90s),
one guy never got charge because lack of evidence but everyone knows (famous biker guys, a bouncer too)

During a drinking session, always one guy try to TEST POWER on another group drinking nearby.
If you can change the mentality, maybe starts with banning alcohol for a start,
which is impossible, it is the culture here

No one above the law, Tiong warns in violence aftermath
29 April 2025

BINTULU: Bintulu Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, has warned that no one will be spared if they threaten public safety here, regardless of their background or affiliations.

The warning comes after an incident outside an entertainment centre here last Sunday, where a confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in one death and another person being injured.

“The case not only cost a young life but also serves as a stark reminder of the importance of public safety in Bintulu.

“Thus, in response to the incident, I have instructed that everyone involved be brought in for detailed questioning,” he said.

Tiong, who is also Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, said those identified as gang leaders must be blacklisted by the police.

“Before the law, everyone is equal. No one is above it, and no one has special privileges.

“Anyone who attempts to take the law into their own hands, uses violence to settle disputes, or ‘shows off their skills’, regardless of their background or whether they are backed by powerful forces from Peninsular Malaysia or elsewhere, will not be spared if they threaten public safety,” he said.

He reminded all young people not to assume that having powerful backing gives them the right to act above the law.

“No matter who you are, even if I know you personally, if you break the law, you will be held accountable and face the consequences,” he said.

Tiong added that while some individuals may have strayed in the past or been involved in gang-related activities, those who are sincerely committed to turning over a new leaf deserve the opportunity of a second chance.

“However, if you continue to be stubborn, resorting to violence and boasting about gang ties, I will not tolerate it.

“And if you feel targeted, ask yourself first: have you been acting appropriately?”

He also questioned legal practitioners, asking whether they were truly seeking justice or merely profiting from defending lawbreakers.

“If you choose to defend criminals today, how will your children live in a just society tomorrow?” he asked, warning that the issue is not just about law enforcement, but the future direction of the community.

He urged the people of Bintulu to stand united in rejecting criminal elements.

Eght suspects, all in their 40s, believed to have been involved in the incident have been remanded to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
