I'm gonna be honest and say that I'm kinda sick of the pattern of threads in Girls' Club. It's all about improving our appearance, how-to-please-your-man-more talks, and sex talks, which is OF COURSE infected by guys, which beats the whole purpose of Girls Club in the first place.

I know I'm gonna be receiving lots of bashing for this, but I don't really care; I'm sure there's lots of girls out there who feels the same way as me. Why can't we talk about more serious stuff? Do our lives center around guys that much? Are we helpless without them? No, of course not. I'm not starting on equality and gender issues here but GIRLS, have some dignity!

Why are we talking about private parts and sex before marriage with guys we don't even know in a public forum? Seriously?

So, to start things of, I'd like to talk about a neutral topic. Pick a topic which doesnt center on guys OR sex. Any topic.

I'm a gamer, I love Dave Barry (the author), stand-up comedies, Peter Pan, and my pet sugar glider, Wasabi.

See, that wasn't too hard. Your turn. Sharing is caring.

Yeah I get what you mean... it's really weird seeing people posting about private issues with strangers on a public forum, but then again everybody's anonymous hence there are less inhibitions.

Come to think about it, serious talk have their own respective forums. For example, games are discussed in the game thread, while there's always the hobbies and collectibles thread for sharing one's passion.

Girl's club... well, it's pretty much for girly talk anyway... like makeup and fashion and such.

Cheers.

There's a serious lack of participation from girls in the Real World Issue section so I won't be surprise if most girls are not interested in more serious issues anyway. Perhaps getting pretty and getting a rich husband@"Mr Right" are more important for most girls.

oh?

I really dont want to turn this thread into another guy-bashing thread, because goodness we all know males are already being bashed in real life.

I'm sorry, I dont mean it that way. peace.

Plus, I'm not looking for that kind of serious talk. that belongs there, whether there are or there aren't enough women there is not really my concern. I'm just sick of the normal threads. I figured Girls Talk should center on women issues. not whether i should keep the bloody condom on or off.

Anyway, who's Jit?

I'm a gamer too...I game on the Wii, PS2, PS3, Nintendo and on the PC - Warcraft III Defense of the Ancients. I don't have a particular author that I like but I enjoy chick fics. Standup comedy is teh awesomeness...hehehe. smile.gif
I know what you mean though, about "girls" all talking about how to please their man and how to look better and stuff like that. I'm personally a boyish girl - I wear makeup once in a blue moon and dress in jeans 99% of the time. No skirts whatsoever and my favorite shoes are my new adidas sneakers. Come on girls, guys aren't everything. If anything, we can live without them...they can't live without us.

Apologies if anyone feels offended, but I didn't mean it in a degradatory way.

Fashion and makeup may seem superficial to some people, but in reality it's still pretty much a heavy weight industry. In fact, I don't think discussing about fashion and makeup is degradatory to anyone, especially females. Talking about where to buy the most beautiful skirt or how to apply eyeshadow is like how guys talk about football or where to get electronic gadgets. Nothing to be ashamed of.

If you read my post again, my point is to state that some of the more serious issues are already been discussed in their own respective forums and there's no need to limit those discussions in the girl's thread. If anything, it'll be welcome for the girl's thread to have some serious discussions about whatever matters that might seem meaningful to girls, not just makeup or fashion.

Then again, if there are female members want to ask about makeup and fashion, why deem those discussions as degradatory?

Peace in, peace out. And hopefully this thread doesn't turn into an extreme feminist/male bashing/ thread. Female rights should be upheld, gender equality respected, but not to the extent of bashing and flaming the other sex.

hmm.gif no idea why is this thread started for in 1st place.
Guys/Girls can never live to be alone forever till death anyway. If you are still single at the age of 40, something is very wrong(this doesnt applies to widower/widow, i respect their loyalty to their love ones).
Guys/Girls have their own problems and can never to be same, so dont try to justify each side's problem.
Guys/Girls think differently too thats y its always categorize as Male/Female.Well someday they might think alike when u manage to find something in between when u fill in your occupation slip.

@starghazzer: I think what the TS means is that it's a little disgusting how ALL threads center around fashion etc. I don't think she's trying to say that discussions on such topics shouldn't be held at all. A little variety is nice indeed. After all, fashion actually DOES have its own subforum just like games and audio etc... well yeah they conveniently put it under GC anyway though. sleep.gif

However, TS, it's true that everything else is mostly covered by other subtopics also. I mean, personally if I were to want to talk about games, I'd actually go to Gamers' Hideout right?

Still, kudos for bringing it up. Kinda refreshing to read about something besides bras and private parts.

P.S: I've not read Dave Barry, and have no idea what a sugar-glider is, but I like actual wasabi. tongue.gif

Yea, that's true. That's why I post in Nintendo also smile.gif

I'm just saying, is there *any* other things that we girls can talk about that is not about guys and sex?

Shopping is cool. Make-up is cool. I have no problem with either of them. It makes us look good and makes us feel good. But then again when you talk about which make-up will make him fall for you more.. well that makes me gag. That's just my two cents.

And lets not make this a sexist forum. I like guys. But hey, Girls Club is for who again?

Did you know? A research says that when girls dress up, it's actually for the eyes of other girls. It's interesting isn't it?

Haha I'm just happy there's other girls who feel the same way as me, so *hugs*

Yeah I've heard that one. It's quite true, too, I think... I don't think guys even notice that manicure that some girls pay rm100+ for! I recall that on the 83649827364389643th date that my bf and I had, he suddenly exclaimed 'Hey, since when was your hair so long?!' sleep.gif

Errr whoops. Back to the spirit of the thread... so what's a sugar-glider? tongue.gif
