Hi all, I recently renewed my IC and noticed that there's a transparent sticker on top of my MyKad. This sticker makes the card look blurry and prevents me from successfully verifying my IC when taking a photo on mobile apps, as the app says the text is unclear. I've tried taking the photo more than 10–20 times, but it's still not working.

Can this transparent sticker be removed? (quite hard to remove)

Tampering of official document is an offense.

mine started peeling off before itself… so waiting for ktard view

The transparent film is meant to protect the ink and also has hologram overlay. The ink might stick on the film if you try to remove it & damaging your identity card.

you can request for a free replacement card if the text is blurry

Sure not your phone problem, or something else? Mine looks pretty clear, compare with yours and see if the same or not

Its meant to be there and not to be removed.

That is special laminate. Why would anyone think of removing it? And in no way would it make blurry document, unless it is somehow defective, or your camera problem

Try doing it under sunlight and not indoor / house lighting. Had similar issues back then and this solves it.

Don't do anything on your MyKAD. Leave it as it is.
