A POLICE officer lost part of his left ear after being bitten by an African man who became aggressive during an attempted arrest at a private clinic in Metro Prima, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 10.30am when two officers were dispatched to the clinic following an emergency call about a foreign patient behaving aggressively.
According to a source, the suspect initially appeared cooperative as officers attempted to calm him down.
“However, just as they were about to place him in the patrol vehicle, the suspect suddenly turned and bit the officer’s left ear, severing part of it,” the source said.
The officer, believed to be in his 30s, suffered heavy bleeding and was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for emergency treatment. He is reportedly in stable condition and is scheduled to undergo surgery to reattach the severed portion of his ear.
Initial investigations revealed that the 38-year-old suspect is a student at a private college in the capital. He has since been taken into custody for further investigation.
Sentul Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Jasni Zopal confirmed the incident, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt. - April 25, 2025
