Me just enjoying the show. SMEs are one of the biggest tongkat receivers all this while. They just call it grants, aids, tax cuts/rebates/relief and what not.

GLCs and some cronies are not going to suffer though.

This will be a joyride for ppl like me.

Sorry to hear that but that is the price of competition, free market. Some win, some lose. Survival of the smartest and fittest right? We entered a free trade agreement with China thru Asean. Let's see if they'll open up their market. Am sure there are lots of opportunities there too for M'sian firms.

Chinese coming in? There'll be opportunities for savvy ppl here too.

Hahah I also wish we can just compartmentalise the economy, something affect SME won't affect me

This is going to be a fun thing to watch. So many ignorant kids here.

Malaysia has always been resilient in the face of challenges, we were once the leader in rubber and tin production. There are many things that China, India nor US can't produce or offer globally or locally.

Not all biz will be affected negatively. There are things and services that the Chinese can't produce nor offer.

Cutting out the middle men is an example of positive effect for most Malaysians.

What company do you work for? MNC? Hope you are not a biz owner yourself

U do know that's because they were replaced by CHEAPER SYNTHETIC rubber right? U need coal and other petroleum by-products to make them.

WW2 caused the shortage of natural rubber so the Axis power came up with SYNTHETIC rubber. They had a lot of coal and then the Allied power bombed all their factories. You change and adapt. Challenges come up all the time.

So MY gomen decided to go big with oil palm when it's not even our native crop. Tin was replaced by plastic and by the time we discover oil, u know how M'sians are with plastics.

Noobs.

lol.gif

addendum : New rule - only locally produced rubber gloves can be exported

Our gomen is quite good at defending leading local industries.

And failed miserably.

PRC don't produce rubber but export more tyres, rubber gloves, etc than mys.

...and we have SIRIM (MITI), theoretically to filter the low quality, hazardous and unsafe products. Plus we have agencies like JAKIM and even Communication, Health, KDN ministries as further nets for other undesirable products.

Our market is not big compared to other ASEAN countries but soon they'll be desperate enough and we can ask them to open up their market for us too. WIN-WIN?

Which part do you not understand? We are not rubber producer anymore.

Dangg, how old are you and in what profession? Local bodies have no control over foreign markets.

They evade easily? We know why, don't we?

lol.gif

QUOTE(icemanfx @ Apr 26 2025, 07:42 AM)
Many products e.g tyres, rubber gloves still use natural rubber.

There are many more prc items transhipped here.
Sirim, jakim, cidb, etc are red tapes imposed on local businesses. A reason why mys export is not competitive. Many prc import evade these regulations.

Fearmongering doesn't work with many of us, we see thru all the lies.

Cutting out the middle men is fantastic, we just need to have better import controls, like the Japs.

What!? Do u even understand the concept of FTA?

Gomen just need to monitor and provide protection from unscrupulous sellers/suppliers.

Errr... r u on dope?

lol.gif

QUOTE(icemanfx @ Apr 26 2025, 02:59 PM)
PRC experience shows cutting out the middle men is detrimental to b40 and M40.

The more the regulation i.e red tape, the more expensive goods price.
