I am not an expert and trying to obtain some knowledge. Does the cheapest t4g.nano EC2 with a Public IPv4 sufficient to do this? Or does Lightsail available in Malaysia, if so, which one is the cheapest just to be used as a proxy to overcome TM bad routing? Or any other cheaper VPS with good routing especially to China? Thank you
I am using t4g.small. It was free last year. Then they extend it to end of this year.
Basically compute is free, so you just pay for public IPv4 and the data transfer.
For data transfer, you get 100GB egress free per month. But you get 1TB per month for CloudFront.
So I front my EC2 with CloudFront and run overtls (Shameless plug I am a contributor, hehe):
https://github.com/shadowsocksr-live/overtlsThis is basically my whole anti-censorship proxy setup.
I vibe coded a script to enable / disable public IPv4 and set my DNS whenever I want to turn it on.
So basically I just flip the switch whenever I want to use it.
Permission wise I use IAM policy to do both EC2 control and also Route53.
EDIT:
Just to add since I integrate with AWS natively, I do not use the setup script in github.
EDIT 2:
Forgot to answer your question.
Yes t4g.nano is sufficient. I used it previously and didn't feel any different. I use t4g.small now just because AWS is giving it away for free.
AWS Singapore has PNI with China Unicom. You will have pleasant experience with anyone on China Unicom
I am not sure Lightsail is available in Malaysia or not since I don't use it. I sort of default to custom VPC, custom EC2 Endpoint Connect and I already have a domain in Route53.
To add... The free t4g.small don't apply in Malaysia. So I am using Singapore region.
