Johor police have arrested 23 youths aged between 15 and 25 years old in a three-day anti-illegal motorcycle racing operation conducted across the state.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the special operation, dubbed “Ops Motosikal”, was held simultaneously across all districts in the state from April 18 to 20.

“Those arrested are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

“If convicted, they may face a maximum fine of RM15,000, up to five years’ jail, and disqualification from holding a driving licence for five years,” he said in a statement on Monday (April 21).

A total of 23 motorcycles were seized under the same section, while another 180 motorcycles were impounded under Section 64(1) of the Act for various offences, including riding without a valid licence, and registration plates or exhaust modifications that do not meet specifications.

Comm Kumar added that 989 summonses were issued during the operation, with the highest number – 212 – related to illegal registration plates, followed by 196 for riding without a valid licence.

“These statistics show that there are still segments of society who remain defiant and are willing to challenge the law.

“Johor police will continue to take firm action and will not compromise with anyone who breaks the law,” he added.

back in 2000s one of my friend also rempit kaki.

Once kena cekup by police operasi. The polis made all the rempit push their bike back to balai which is few KM away. Very effective punishment. lol.

Issue summons for what? Keep the bikes for 1 week and then fine. Those cannot claim back their bikes because no Mani then know next time the dare to do it again or not

Best straight lock-up, hantam/rotan inside, moto kena lelong/bakar terui. Most of them have sponsors anyway so they will come back to race on another day. Do they even have programs in school for this? Only see the anti-dadah/gam campaign.
