Original paint or not matters little to typical joe like us out there. It's not like we get to know whether the paint is original or not. Believe the more important part is the painting process. And thickness of paint applied that is if the workshop have the tool to measure it. That aside, a proper oven must be available to ensure the painting done is properly cured and away from any contamination.

Each car chassis no. and plate supposing can trace back the original color details, this is correct.

But the process, end product might not be 100% same as factory usually use robot arm spray or full paint tank dip in the panels/chassis compare to outside mainly workmanship. So eventho is same paint, they might got some quality difference in later. (Thicker or thinner paint surface, gloss not same, etc)

for regular car ckd here, most cars had a very thin layer of paint (not sure if to be as economical as possible), hence easy to scratch relatively to Conti cars, especially CBU. If u read at FB group, Mazda and Honda owner are complaining that their paint scratches easily, even with the optional top up of a few k for premium colour.

btw last time ask quotation for my Honda for exterior only repainting at Honda 4S Body & Paint Sg Long Kajang, the quotation are starting at rm8.5k, more if found need some additional repair. So if it me, better send to outside recommended paint shop at at least half of it
