QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 4 2025, 08:51 AM) I've driven an older generation Kia Sportage company car. The overall NVH was OK but engine noise was a bit loud and rough. Perhaps the newer generation Kias and Hyundais have much improved NVH. Anyway, I would want to avoid a Korean if possible but we'll see. Only avoid if you really care about resell value and mileage. I could have bought a City for 80+K but I settled for a 70k Rio. I have not driven much, clocking 33k over 10 years. Replaced the absorber/tyres for the first time earlier this year (or late last year), still running on factory mountings. Change all brake pads to non ori since ori create a lot of brake dust. Even on the Sonata which clocked 140k, 2 sets of absorber, 1 set of mounting and lower arms, and the ac compressor once. Gone are the days of unreliable Korean cars. Imagine 10 years back auto wiper, auto headlight and yet Im not too sure if the Japanese make even had these nowadays.

QUOTE(Drian @ Apr 4 2025, 08:32 AM) I though it was solved. Usually when referring to NVH , it is referring to road noise. To me, a noise is a noise, regardless of whether it comes from the tyres or otherwise.

QUOTE(Drian @ Apr 2 2025, 10:34 AM) I would say Proton X-series , most china brand and European do better than Japanese in soundproofing and NVH. In fact I'll say Japanese is a bad reference in NVH. Most of their cars are noisy. Same feedback for X series, specifically x70 1.8T CKD of mine. Its too quiet even at traffic lights, wont know if the engine is running (if the mounting in great condition), and driving 140-150kmh, it quiet and make driving less tiring. My other car is Accord is totally opposite for NVH. Even when brand new, the slight vibration of engine felt especially at traffic lights, as many of my buddies who use Accord mentioned, its due to very low rpm setting by Honda. Not sure if it true. Inb4 when raining, the roof sound like a Viva, and outside, wind noise at heard even at 100kmh
