Hi all,
Anyone has done PRP injections for their knee meniscus tear? It's a new tech not sure which specialist is good with this procedure. I have a medial meniscus tear, looking for options. Steroid seems to have bad side effects long term, either looking for HLA or PRP shots.
Thank you for any advice.

Did mine (combined PRP and Stem Cell) on both knees twice in a period of four years, first was 2019 then 2nd one August last year. I used Hyruan One Intra-articular treatment kit. Cost me RM3K for two shots on both knee. So far it does alleviate the pain but still it is not a long term solution. Did mine at Orthopedic clinic UITM Hospital.

Is it painful after the injection or were you able to walk normally after injection? Thank you for replying.

Not that painful IF the doctor is experience and knows what he is doing and you can walk as normal after the procedure... After the treatment like I said, it helps to alleviate the pain and you lead your normal routine life but PRP is to ease the pain so it is highly recommended that you also compliment the treatment with physiotherapy. If you are active in sports, it may take some time before you can fully do sports..Best consult with your doctor first

Were your knee caused by medial meniscus tear or other condition? Also, did you take any supplements like Glucosamine or Collagen? I found Glucosamine caused me stomach upset because i have GERD. I found Glucosamine caused me stomach upset because i have GERD. Other condition long time ago when I was a teenager but fully recovered and was very active in sport, now I am already 64 y.o so more likely because of age factor. I don't take any supplements and I avoid taking pain killers but more on physio sessions occasionally which does help actually in terms of managing my knees..believe it or not, during physio, one thing the physio taught me was how to walk the correct way and it actually helps This post has been edited by ad2000: Mar 20 2025, 06:27 PM

We didn't use knees to walk, the momentum making as to walk forward Isaac Newton 2nd law, p=mv Master the newton 2nd law, u only need hips and ankles to walk
