Hi, for people live under KDEB waste management area, is there a specific criteria what garbage they will take and what they won't touch?

I have a collection of large cardboard boxes from online shopping, bundled them together in neat large plastic bag, but the garbage truck won't take it.
It have been 3 weeks, the boxes become heavy soaking in rain water and the plastic bag disintegrated from the sun. Now has become a complete mess.

As far as I understand, the regular garbage truck only take organic food wastes. This, so far they have no problem as they picked my organic garbage bin clean.
But when it comes to inorganic waste, its always hit or miss so far. confused.gif

My garden waste hasn't been collected for a month. No updates through the app. It's in anyway pile so they can load it.

So I just drag all of it aside and burn it instead.

KDEB will only take "household rubbishes" tied inside plastic bag. They wont take loose items at all. Except for metal because you know why.

The only people that will collect your cardboard boxes, cut plants, mattress, basically any loose items are subcontractors from MBSJ, MBPJ, MBSA etc. BUT they wont enter in your housing lane. They only will use main road in your taman. If your taman is guarded they also seldom come. Probably once a month depends on their work schedule.

cardboard boxes can be sent to any local recycle bin, or you can turn them in into cash if you have about bundle of them, but don't expect too much cash la, I have one place that buys at 50 cent per KG

I'm looking at the domestic waste description in the app, includes plastic/glass bottles. Funny thing is, they don't pick up the plastic bottles if I put exclusively plastic bottles inside one big bag.
What they do is they took it out from the bin, put it beside the bin. Happens every time. And the collection time seems to be at random, one day it suddenly vanishes.

There should be a roro truck come every wednesday, but I rarely see them pass by. So far I need to ask them to come pick the garbage manually by filing complaints.

As I said plastic bottles is not household waste. 1 or 2 bottles per plastic bag, yes. But a plastic bag full of bottles is not a household waste. Its your responsibility to send them to recycling centre or if your taman got recycling day, give it to them.

KDEB used to pickup most of the rubbish but people tend to misuse them discarding commercial rubbishes. People are running businesses and restaurants inside houses illegally and producing a lot of commercial wastes then just tie into plastic bag and hope the lorry will come pick up. Thats why Majlis became very strict now only picking up household rubbish only. Im not saying youre doing it, but because of some, the rules became tighter.

As for the roro, they have a schedule to follow. If they miss their schedule, then you have a right to complaint.

Edit
It could also be because now is puasa, so probably they altered their schedule a bit to go home fast.

It's an "improvement" to Selangor's waste disposal collection program (if you can call it that)...

Basically, there should be 3 different collections;
1 to landfill - 2 times weekly
1 to recycling - 1 time fortnightly
1 to composting - 1 time monthly

That was the communication we received for our taman...

Kinda makes sense. People in this house likes to wait until its one plastic bag full before throwing the bottles out. I always wondered why the neighbor bin always picked clean but mine got something left behind. Seperating recycleables and other stuff just put an extra steps for garbage collection, just mix a little of everything in daily garbage is more convenient.

I do that too 😂 with glass.

Most of the time I try to recycle and separate my waste for the local recycling centre. The only problem is that they don't collect GLASS as they are disable or down syndrome staff. Apparently they get injured by broken glass incidents.. So this is the only item I dump as waste.

Send to recycling is an extra step. Recycling center only opens on weekend morning. Its rather a pain for someone who have to work on weekends.

but will occupy some house space la for holding the stuffs until you send it

Well, that's the norm nowadays. Be smart when you throw rubbish. Dont throw in one big parcel. If I threw whole bog with styrofoam, it will be left there. I had to cut the styrofoam into small pieces and fill into rubbish bag then only they will collect it. Furniture need to wait for bulk. Cardboard I just sell myself or wait the Indian auntie on 3 wheel motorcycle to collect.

Sometimes they dont even bother to load all your rubbish if you had filled your bin and left 2-3 fully filled rubbish bags which are outside the bin. Hence be nice to your neighbors and share your allocation. Sometimes you use their bin, sometimes they used your bin when you guys had extra to throw.

They separated the collection…

Organic food waste and bulk waste (boxes, papers, gardening stuff)

Organic food waste comes regularly 2-3 times per week and prioritised while bulk waste comes once a week but lot of times when the came their bulk waste truck already full

This is incorrect. Best answer is that their bulk waste lorry full already so they didnt come picking up. By right both lorry should come and pick it up infront your house.

You can download the iClean Selangor apps to log complaint to pick up the bulk waste if they continue ignoring it

Mine also KDEB, Kajang area. The regular collectors have no problem taking my cardboard boxes. I usually collect, flatten and stuff them into another box of medium size and they'll take it. No need plastic bag. I don't let it get wet.

The really big ones like cardboard from TV, fridge or washing machine, I take myself to the recycling center and get a few bucks for it.

Anything too big like old mattress or sofa and large styrofoam, iClean.

Selangor ftw.

I dont see how I'm wrong here based on your pic. The compactor will only pick up household rubbish.

The roro will pickup bulk items. But will not enter your individual housing lane. They usually will prowl on the main road inside the taman and pick up items discarded there, then leave. They wont enter all the lane inside the taman unless specifically asked.

"By right both lorry should come and pick it up infront your house." WRONG. They dont do that. On the pic you shared it didnt specify that also. Dont assume.
